sounds and looks like the investigation might be moving along quite well (relatively speaking)...that's how we'll find out who's responsible. weird that that concept didn't occur to you. "everybody must pay"? who is saying that? and what if the person or people who are responsible for this are found out and caught? cool with you if they're held responsible and punished?

wow. which rock have you been living under? for example, the wtc was hit in 1993 - 6 died, 1000 injured. or did you forget about that one? and the oklahoma city bombing...that's not terrorism? that's not "damage on american soil"? who gives a flying fuck if timothy mcveigh was american...america clearly wasn't very happy about that incident either. does that make you feel better? I can tell you this- whether or not you or I agree with the death penalty or war, neither mr. mcveigh or the people who attacked america yesterday are stupid enough to not know that they've got early deaths to look forward to when they're found out and caught. again, whether or not you or I like it, that's the way it works here. I'd suggest getting used to that reality. personally, I'll feel safer when the people who are behind yesterday's brutal (yet wimpy) attacks (and any in the past or future) are no longer living and able. whoever they are, and wherever they're from. how about you? let me guess, you didn't know and love anybody who died in yesterday's happenings? guess what? me either (or not that I know of, yet). but my feelings about it wouldn't be different, either way. and yes, I'd feel the same if this happened *anywhere* in the world. scary that people would be ashamed to live in a country who "makes a big deal" out of a disaster like yesterday's.

I bet it was covered plenty there. you're in america, which serves as a great reason why you're seeing yesterday's happenings being thoroughly covered here. if you don't understand or like that, then you've got a confusing and frustrating life ahead you. yikes. I understand and happily accept that many people on this list have VERY different views about things like this. and I've enjoyed reading some of the more "educated" messages, regardless of whether they're of a different view or belief than mine, or not. but I tend to keep my mouth shut about topics which I don't feel that I know enough to open my mouth about. (hence my extremely infrequent messages to this list. well, that and my chronic shyness!) but there's been some awfully ignorant, insensitive, hateful, and downright stupid messages here in the last day or two regarding the situation here in the US. on the other hand, I was in tears yesterday reading some of the heartfelt messages from people around the world on this list. for me, it felt good to read that the listmembers from all over the world felt affected enough to want to show concern about the victims, and the country, and the world. it was the first time in a LONG time (years) that I've felt a sense of "community" here. anyway. dud. __________________________________________________ Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help? I agree. It was very nice to hear everyone's well-wishes on the matter, and the genuine concern felt by some people who were brave enough to vocalize. On the other hand, to the more-indie-than-thou, "america had it coming to them" hataz, how would you like it if your family was in that building? I also don't recall anyone cheering during any of the past "agressions" against other countries. In fact, I recall most people having similar feelings of "we all lose" when the atom bombs dropped, when vietnam was going on, or during the recent hostilities in the middle east. And as far as America losing its "virginity," I think that happened in 1783. or at least no later than 1861 Now. I've really been enjoying some minimalist, semi-instrumental music lately, a la labradford, and was wondering if anyone could recommend anything else along that vein. I'm looking for something slow, thoughtful, most likely with at least some bass, and without a house beat. For the record, I've still been enjoying Zammuto's disc 1, a little Aerial M, some Pan American (mainly from the labradford ties), and I already have the good V. Delay releases. I hope that's not all of it :D Please respond with recommendations and reasons to the list -- I think we could all use a little more music in our lives right now. thanks. derek ------- eggytoast.com ------- coming to a cineplex near you --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Before I start to write: thank heaven for the internet! do you all realize how amazing it is to have freedom of speech and information? globally? to not just be the receiver of news but also the transmitter... it's amazing! THIS is freedom of speech, to not just be solely opium fed by a pro-A or B faction TV and news paper (ok, so it still isn't totally objective on the web, but it is better than anything we have previously had, it's international instead of only national and we can all TALK to each other for a start- which is insanely powerful!) =))) ok, now my reaction to this thread: This is a very interesting point. I've had the grace of living in Europe for about 10 years, and the states for 15 years all together- 4 of which in NYC. And I must say, there is a clear, 'global' sense of anti-Americanism outside of this country. It's very scary, because it fuels so much hatred and escalates so many issues - inside and outside. And look, it's even in this group... you would not have gotten these posts if this had been... France, or England... no one would have said "you deserved it"...! Is this a dynamic that American's are only loosely aware of? Do we in this country really grasp and understand why it is that other countries do not like us? Do we really even care? Or maybe I should say: are human beings really able to relate to anything outside of their immediate reality? and if not, do other's in power utilize this aspect of our mass-geography mass-psychology in political affairs? Talk to most people in this country [at least on the west coast] and you'd be surprised by the amazingly low percentage of people who have ever been outside of America... [minus a visit to Mexico and Canada... which some people would say doesn't really count] and yet are convinced that we live in the freest country in the world [I for one think it's Holland/Amsterdam... where you can do anything short of hurting someone else... but hey, can you blame me?] I am sure that part of it can be attributed to negative qualities [like fear, jealousy etc.] but some of the roots of these feelings must come from other sources which one would be naive to ignore or simply categorize with the irrational. People have motives. It is very rare for an event to occur without a cause. And to commit suicide for your cause must mean that you REALLY had one... Is this only the beginning? Or the end? Hmmm... this is the scariest part of all, I do think. I for one hope that good comes from all this. Even if it another war that is about to start- or not. Too many people have died for this. I couldn't sleep all of last night. The horror still brews in me... Maybe the good that can come from this is a change in the way people think about things and their lives. Maybe just one more person in this world who will take the time to thank god/creator/earth/life/parents/'whom ever you choose' for another day on this beautiful planet and to be a bit humble, and happy, to be alive... and to love one's fellow brothers and sisters... Or maybe by the end of this, everyone will be at that state of being? Who knows... Do I think we should go to war? Well, I might. And I don't say that lightly and there are many reasons why I might argue that we should, or shouldn't... (gulp) If only to realize that and eye for an eye really does mean that you are blind... =) [I really like that quote from some other IDM'er] And finally, to top it of, here is a post I got from a parallel with Nostradamus, I take it you all know who he is. I haven't had a chance to verify if it is true or not, but it's always some scary stuff, and it might help to distract some of the inevitable responses to my post: a. ==== This is a quake from one of his predictions: "In the year of the new century and nine months, From the sky will come a great King of Terror... The sky will burn at forty-five degrees. Fire approaches the great new city..." "In the city of York there will be great collapse, twin brothers torn apart by chaos while the fortress fall, the great leader will succumb, the third big war will come when the big city is burning..." 2001 is the first year of the new century and this is the 9th month. New York is located at the 41st degree Latitude. He also said that this will be the third World War and it would be bigger than the last two wars. I hope he is wrong, but judging from his predictions of Hitler, Napoleon, and Pearl Harbor.... ==== --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The "nostradamus prediction" is a hoax. Someone all ready posted a link to a couple sites that prove it as hoaxes.
quoted 2 lines I hope he is wrong, but judging from his>I hope he is wrong, but judging from his >predictions of Hitler, Napoleon, and Pearl Harbor....
He didn't predict hitler. his predictions were talking about "hister," which was the old german name for a river.. which, the vonne? the danube? i forget. in context, they're all references to a river, too. napoleon he named by name. but it's also a very common name. Translate the french yourself, and it won't be a prediction any more. same with pearl harbor. http://www.nostradamus-repository.org/ for more info (many kudos to the previous poster on the list). Nostradamus has a positive prediction rate of 6%. Average rate of predictions coming true is between 5-10% for any yahoo off the street. This means that Nostradamus was just a guy with a pen.
