some crap i'm likin'.... otto von schirach - 8000BC - schematic (absurdly glitchy and goofy) xanopticon - symphwrak (sick industrial/breakcore from pittsburgh) rewind records #3 (insanely mashed up new ragga) synapsescape - positive pop - antzen (rhythmic noise with some dope remixes) society suckers/slam - peaceoff ltd 3 (quality sampling and overall killer) curtis chip - zod #4 (interesting idm shit kind of like aphex) berlin - the metro (electropop that i can't stop playing....) prefuse 73 - vocal studies and uprock narratives (smooth dsp'd hiphop, quality album) fantomas - directors cut (mike patton & co's takes on various film scores) ladytron - 604 (sweet vocal electro, not getting old at all...) - cutups

God I love that song. I almost went to see Berlin when they played here a month or two ago, but decided that it wasn't worth sitting through "Take My Breath Away" to hear "The Metro." -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@my2way.com http://www.atomly.com/ | 877.741.3571 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

While we're talking about The Metro, the band I am Spoonbender does a really great cover of the song on their last EP "Teletwin EP". They even re-wrote all the lyrics. It kicks ass. So does the rest of the EP. Buy it. See them live. Also, you mentioned the new Fantomas album, The Director's Cut. I'm loving it. Easier to get into than the previous album. The cover of the Cape Fear theme is great. Also the theme from The Omen. Too bad they are opening up for Tool on their overpriced sold-out tour. Maybe next year. Oh... and now watch how I bring this back, full circle, to Berlin. Mike Patton, is appearing on several tracks of the upcoming Dan "The Automator" Nakamura CD, Songs to Make Love to Your Old Lady To. One of these tracks he appears on will be a duet with the singer from Elysian Fields. The song they'll be singing? A cover of Berlin's "Sex". Have you heard this song? Maybe if you have, you realize just how fucking ridiculous this all is. Alright. The end. -Aaron ----- Original Message ----- From: atomly <atomly@atomly.com> Date: Tuesday, September 4, 2001 3:53 pm Subject: Re: [idm] top 10 squid salads

saw them last night in a metal club filled with drunken fratboys wearing tool shirts. having seen fantomas twice, both of their shows are in my top-5 all time shows ever seen. atomsmasher opened. fans of venetian snares, the locust, and the noisier kid-606 stuff would dig. 80's metalheads & fratboys did not. check his shit out soon on ipecac. -j --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I picked up the new Atomsmasher on Hydrahead recently. Its pretty cool. Was it all three guys live or just James Plotkin? The drummer from Discordance Axis is on the CD. Its nutty. -Aaron
