that's not THAT obscure... it showed up on the Deep Dish renassaince(sp?) ibizia mix compilation... it's a beautiful song... though perhaps it's a remix that's on there, it's kind of like what i hope it would sound like to be inside the moon. what other stuff have you got that might have you confused and what sort of info do you need? btw, i'm sure it's been talked to death (or maybe it hasn't)... i was curious as to what the list thought of two releases from soundslike: the newest herbert album and also the soft pink truth 12" i was subbed here a while ago under the name larrywarshaw@cs.com... well, i'm resubbed, my name's not and never REALLY was larry, and i hope you're all doing splendidly. gregory coming not-so-soon-at-all: www.jeanpaulasthma.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Right! Well then what about 'Weekender'?..... Here are some things I would like to know also.....other artists who sound similar(in general) with Brooks, H. Lidbo and Circulation. In addition, what's going on with the Peacefrog label? (sorry I am trying to cram it all in 1 message).....
quoted 1 line the newest herbert>>the newest herbert
album and also the soft pink truth 12" If Bodily fuctions is one of them......I did nothing for me. But that is my biased talking, because I really dont care for vocals. Every single tune! I wasnt too happy, especially because Herbert's overall ability to lay down the classic House sound is incredible. Will the guy who helped out with track 3 please take a bow----:) P.S. I spruced it up for you Mr. Pointek, I wanna be intelligent and civil like you some day............:) np) Quadrant Dub ----- Original Message ----- From: jean paul l'asthme Sent: Friday, August 03, 2001 5:51 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: [idm] pink cigarettes

herbert's "bodily functions" is my #1 album this year, and will likely remain so. hands down. i wish i had enough money to be able to buy it for every one of my friends. it's that kind of record. drew's "soft pink truth," similarly, is one of my absolute favorite singles this year. i just love what that guy can do with house music -- sorta halfway between perlon and herbert, between theo parrish and, i dunno, richard devine? i know that's a bit of a flippant summation (that will likely annoy people from both camps), but what i'm trying to get at is the way he straddles the line between deep soul and digital fuckery.... sort of like a more IDM recloose, with a little DBX thrown in there. speaking of recloose, the sampler 12" on his OMOA music label is fucking fantastic, if not terribly this-listy. two tracks of deep broken business, and one kinda sad soulful downtempo thing. if you dig his shit, or west london tracks, or any of the between, grab it. cheers philip

Totally agreed. I bought it last week and can't stop listening :) What amazes me most is that it sounds like a real jazz record, not like all that modern synthetic jazz-funk a-la Pork / Mole Listening Pearls etc. And Dr. Rocket'ish percussion fits so nice... -- Best regards, Nick mailto:ambi@mu.ru --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
