Actually, selling out is compromising any of your *ideals* to gain money/fame. Artistic freedom is an ideal, but artists aren't the only people who can sell out. So, if Warp or Aphex or your pet cat believed strongly that the "war on drugs" was a Bad Thing (tm), but were then offered money and, for the money, lent their support to the "war on drugs," that would be selling out. However, if Warp et. al. didn't care or felt the ad was a good thing, then lending their support or selling their music would not be "selling out." Also, if their primary ideal was just to give the music to whoever paid for it, then they were not only not selling out, they were living up to their ideals! Yeah. Personally, I don't think they care at all about the american war on drugs. At least, I don't... Not that I'm an uncaring person, it's just to far from my experience to even know what it's about, really. I've only ever done cannabis (which is great, btw). And beer (of course). rePS: Oh, and yes, its from the Dune books =) Adam Piontek said at Ò[idm] Re: selling outÓ. [May/09/2001 21:00]

I'm still wondering how the hell people get the opportunity to sell out - I might want to sell out - or maybe I'll say no - but goddamn I'd at least like the opportunity! ;) Adam Piontek wrote:
