Actually, selling out is compromising any of your
*ideals* to gain money/fame. Artistic freedom is an
ideal, but artists aren't the only people who can sell
out.
So, if Warp or Aphex or your pet cat believed strongly
that the "war on drugs" was a Bad Thing (tm), but were
then offered money and, for the money, lent their
support to the "war on drugs," that would be selling
out.
However, if Warp et. al. didn't care or felt the ad
was a good thing, then lending their support or
selling their music would not be "selling out."
Also, if their primary ideal was just to give the
music to whoever paid for it, then they were not only
not selling out, they were living up to their ideals!
PS - CarthagTuek ... is that from the Dune books?
