Hello, I've been quite silent as of late, but wanted to say that the new Otto Von Schirach on Schematic makes me tingly smile. Doesn't clear headaches, but helps wash away the evils of a painful day. Blistered and scattered beats, with no sense of unity or melody. Quite fun and jittery. I've not heard a Schematic release prior, but if they all follow this step, then perhaps I should start looking.... (Meant to get the new comp instead, but it didn't come in and the store played me this. Quite enthralled.) And the new Cyclo (Ikeda & Noto) has swank packaging. Me. BTW--WWJD? _Go and Do Likewise!_ is currently being pressed. Out soonish w/ mixes by Atom Heart, DJ Speedranch, V/Vm, Alejandra & Underwood, Persona, and others....Including a Mr. Wagstaff that will make you go "huh?" and a pair of boys by the name Digital.Spastic that will make you squelch for more. (Their submission helped kick start me into finally releasing the damn thing....that good of a mix.) Plus an online site where you can download the source material and add your own mix to the fray. --- Peace Hugs and Unity Jason J. Tar W. W. J. D? (What would Jason Do?) Well, nothing else on Schematic besides Ritchie Devine's recent stuff sounds even close to Von Schirach's stuff. That IS a pretty insane album. I'm really glad Schematic is venturing into that kind of territory. Here's what I had to say about it a while back: "8000B.C." is a fine album to say the least. Definitely one of the more singular efforts I've heard recently. Similar to Devine's work in its manic programming and almost complete lack of melody, but his textures are somewhat less synthetic than Devine's and his programming is a lot more disjunct. His stuff is less sort of stoic and more playful than Devine's work. His tracks do suffer from the sort of sameyness that's also found in Devine's work though.
