Whatup all, whatup IreneMC/Will Samuels/Gilly and all the other IDMers I used to know. I just started buying stuff again and this week I'm in Cleveland. It's snowing like crazy but if it dies down a little, my Californian ass is about to land directly at Bent Crayon [they do have a "brick & mortar" right?]. So I'm asking for recommendations covering the last year or so - I looked over the 'Best Of' stuff but there were some obviously disparate views. The things I've picked up and liked recently have been Vladislav Delay, that new BOC EP, and I liked Metamatics although I think that was from a while ago. I've also been scouring the net and found that I really, really like that PLOD sample at Worm Interface. Any 'must have' or 'give a listen' nods to give before I buy? Oh yeah, I tolerate vynil but prefer CD... [plane rides, you know]. Thanks in advance for the input- david _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Here are some of the things I am really into these days: . Domu 12"s on Archive, 2000 Black, and Skin Deep. . Seiji - "Second Nature ep" [on Bitasweet] and "Into The Now/Silver Blossoms ep" [On 2000 Black] are essential! Seiji also goes under the name Opaque on Archive Records. I'm also digging a lot of downtempo material from Hefner, Modaji, Bonobo, Extended Spirit. The New Delsin compilation is really really nice VA - Going Thru Life CD. . Jazzanova - Singles Collection CD [Sony Japan] . 2000 Black The Good Good [Planet E] A collection of tunes from Dego's 2000 Black label. There are some awesome tunes on this cd! On the techno side of the things, I really dig the two most recent Frictional Records 12"s by Natural Electronics (Shake) and Strand. Diego on Kanzleramt. Dynamo on DIN, etc. --- Warp Yourself <idmr4real@hotmail.com> wrote:

Hey David, Personally I haven't bought a whole helluvalot of music the last year either (having a daughter will do that to your budget) Nevertheless I've gone madd over all the Defocus/Delsin Releases, missing only a few. I have to really really recommend: Cim: Reference CD on Defocus (vinyl is available, the CD version has many more tracks) B. Fleishman Pop loops for Breakfast was pretty cool. If you're into a Soul Oddity kinda thing, Rip Off Artist has recently grabbed my attention. He used to be the dude behind Mental Blox. Rip Off Artist is amazing bleepy bloppity tunes from electro to lounge stuff. He has a few tracks on Sub Rosa Substancia comps and a 7inch on Hot Air. Look forward to a full length CD soon. I dig some of the Morr stuff, I'd get the comp Putting the Morr back in Morrissey for a taste, the Solvent track is awesome. With that in mind, Lowfish's Eliminator LP/CD (on Suction is fucking brilliant!) if you like your IDM the way it "should" be he he he (here come the flames) get this record. I could go on, but I'm lame and start flame, g ps: Will mentioned the Dynamo on Din (which is sweet) I also recommend the Monolake on Din, it's sick. "Anything that separates us is junk. definitely pick up the plod cd - can't go wrong. i'd say the track you heard (markkinal) is fairly representative of their sound - warm, electronic, slightly-more-complex-than-your-average-idm melodies. a damn good release. in a similar vein, i might check out gimmik - slow motion process. melodic in a plod way, but weird and somewhat glitchy in a... different way. lessee, other stuff that came out this year... the new jega cd is pretty good. and check out luomo - vocalcity for some of that funky minimal diva house flava we all crave. that's been a hit around these parts for awhile. ooh, and if you don't yet have hermann & klein - kickboard girl ep, you must buy it. other things i've liked recently: cex - role model aphelion - zugzwang leaf records "osmosis" comp detroit escalator company - excerpts manitoba - 30 sec samples at www.homebass.com (when the fuck am i going to be able to get my hands on this?) can't think of anything else, brain fried. nub np. speedy j - patterns --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I didn't like the "putting the morr back..." comp at all. Phonem track was ok as was solvents but the rest was bad. So I guess our feelings separates us on that one!

You can't fight the logic in that. Which implicates that the morr comp is junk. At least IMO, but as we say in Sweden: "The taste is like the butt - separated". / Johan np: Maas - Small Changes (awesome!) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
