Awerks mentioned : Global Cuts is an R&S offshoot run by Sven Van Hees. He's credited as being one of (if not the) orginator of tribal-house. One of the first "Tribal House" tracks I heard was No Smoke by Koro Koro. That was '88 ,I think. What tracks did Sven Van Hees do? Darren.

All this Wonka & Global Cuts stuff is nice, but it's really just house with a lot of percussion samples. if you want some real (well... almost real) tribal music check out 'In Persuit Of Shashamane Land' by African Head Charge, it's very good. Also pretty tribal is 'Product Of The Environment' by The Moody Boyz. in the far off uk trance has been going for years as early as 89.( i think). as far as psychedelic trance that i know has been going on for years. i used to go to free parties allover london and things like altered states at heaven. as far as i know trance is uk thing and has been picked up all over the world. the tribal thing i completely get as it is part of the trance scene here. i think that about religion and culture trance existed as in the way medecine men used to get mashup on some kind of acid like substance in order to have visions etc...musicwise i'd say that the trance scene has been greatly influenced by real tribal activities.
