I know this question has been asked before, so please respond off-list. Where can one buy IDM-type music in Chicago besides Gramophone? A friend is going there tomorrow and would like to hit some stores of that ilk. Thanks for your help. Weekend Records and Soap 1919 W. Division St Chicago IL 60622 i think they close around 5 or 6 so get there in the early afternoon. about 2 blocks east of Damen ave that just opened up a few months ago. They specialize in electronic music and soap. Less of a selection than Gramophone, but a much more "IDM" (yech) and Experimental selection. Also a great selection of homemade soaps. James (the owner) is very helpful and is more than happy to play anything in the store ... It's all about Reckless records now... They have a store at Milwaukee/North/Damen and one on Broadway, just south of Belmont. They had virtually nothing a little while ago, but a guy I know just took over their electronic ordering and their selection has increased greatly.
