although most 'new age' music doesn't particularly fall into the broad category of 'idm' i think some electronic music artists borrow influences and sometimes even border the line with beat-oriented ambient, etc... perhaps one good example is track 6 off of lexaunculpt's cdep where there's a sort of very lush, organic soundscape with a very deep/laid-back ambiance that normally would just be lumped in as sounding 'new age.' actually, i find it rather emotive stuff and my records don't really portray a strong sense of this. in other words, i'm looking for more things similar to that track/style. any sort of recommendations if i'm looking to find other music with that similar feel to it? {0} http://insecurities.org _____________________________________________________________________________________ Get more from the Web. I always felt Bola's "Soup" was quite similar, spiritually, to some of Jarre's recent work (ie, "Chronologie", "Oxygene 7-13" and "Metamorphoses"). -- Mark Stevens http://www.headspin.clara.net/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Sonogram - 'Heartbeat Submarines' [simulacra records] http://www.simulacrarecords.com/ Also try the Tear Ceremony Albums on the same label. It's a little darker than most ambient, subtle like Biosphere. I'm sure they'd be horrified to think they sound 'new age' considering that's a label that is frequently applied to John Tesh, Yanni & others. You may want to check out the website & playlists of Hearts of Space, an excellent "space music" radio show that's syndicated throughout the united states via public radio. It rides that thin line between ambient and newage wankery all the time, but its still great! http://www.hos.com/ -i PS Tower records classified The Orb as "new age" for years and years --- robert stanton <industrialrobot@hotmail.com> wrote:
