hey there,
I'm trying to find out the name of an artist that uses chopped up voice
samples, not really saying anything just ahs and ohs and stuff, no beats or
anything but i think it might still be rhythmic, kind of sporadic
though...anyone have any idea? all help greatly appreciated...
thanks,
mike

I reply:
this could potentially be either Morton Subotnick's "Touch" from ~1969
which used heavy treatments from the Buchla and various tape devices...
where he develops rhythmic patterns out of phonemes to generate motion..
or,
it could be something from Steve Reich from around the same time frame.

http://www.newalbion.com/artists/labarbaraj/ <-- Joan Labarbara, vocalist
that worked with good 'ole Mort.
if it sounds more recent, I would suspect either The Black Dog [TBD/BDP]
from the Spanners era of music, or potentially Gescom's DanFive/SciewSpoc/
Cicada/??? SKAM 003[?] ep on SKAM. But that has too many drums in it to fit
your postulate..
in any case, all of this stuff is worth checking, even if it really wasn't
what you were looking for..
