Hip-hop is SO influential to "IDM"... its not even funny. If im not mistaken , the hip-hop movement was the first genre to completely go electronic, i think it dfefintiely paved the way. As for ae/funkstorung, jesus christ of course they have hiphop influence.. its one of the reasons sean and rob became friends; dont forget funkst.'s wutang remix :)'' peace ian ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Josh Davison <yoshi@enteract.com> Date: Thu, 10 Aug 2000 14:21:28 -0500 (CDT)

8/11/00 Dear friends, In my humble opinion, the first 'lectronic intelligent dance music was produced by the Bomb Squad (courtesy of the brothers Shocklee). Didn't it all start with "Yo, Bum Rush the Show!" in 1986? Kraftwerk was way intelligent, as was Devo... but dance music? _My Uzi Weighs a Ton_ still freaks me out with it's brilliance. Can I get a witness? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. well, i'll be damned if devo and kraftwerk aren't every bit as dancable as public enemy, if not more...not to try to take away from PE's brilliance, to to refer to it as "dance music" is sorta wrong, and kinda misses the point steve
