I would respectfully like to disagree with you about Caipirinha. It is certainly NOT a bad label. They do have their share of disappointing releases but they also have some solid ones as well - Soundtrack, the Deutscher Funk comps, the Microscopic Sound comp, Tetsu Inoue's Waterloo Terminal, Si Begg's Commuter World, H.E.A.D., and the two Unit releases as well. I've also heard good things about the Datach'i and Caipirissima comp though i've not heard them myself. However I cant disagree with you about about Iara Lee. The stories i've heard about her from caipirinha artists & NYC scenesters have been far from flattering but I dont let the actions of one detract from the musical enjoyment I get from Caipirinha releases. For more information and soundbites from Caipirinha releases check: http://www.caipirinha.com/ and enter the 'music' menu. -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I, for one, thought the idea of D'Atachi providing sound during _Nosferatu_ to be quite an engaging idea. I'm just sorry I don't live in New York. And have you actually listened to Leaf's output lately? I don't understand your question ... It puts out some of the most interesting and consistently NECESSARY music my ears hear. Of course, everyone has different opinions. They just don't have to be insulting in sharing them. J "You should dream more, Mr. Wormold. Leaf is one of the most consistently enjoyable labels in the world, with a diverse and excellent roster of artists (Susumu Yokota, Eardrum, Beige, Freeform, Four Tet, etc.). providing live soundtracks to famous (or not so famous) movies has been around a long time. I don't think any one person<s> can be credited with the idea. Wire a couple years back ran some stories on this subject. In austin, I saw metropolis with a soundtrack provided by st37 (if I remember correctly) and it was amazing. They were not the first to do this movie but each artist who renders a soundtrack provides something unique for that showing of the movie. -daniel: Head Monkey: Mad Monkey Records: http://www.madmonkey.org On Sat, 5 Aug 2000, brock landers wrote:

thought i'd babble in here, the movie was proposed to datach'i by the curators of the festival - i doubt he's trying to be an originator, it was a cool opportunity. he did a pretty damn good job of it too...as for nosferatu, that flick explains why the cocaine was taken outta coke cola. the same organization responsible for the sci-fi festival (FILMSCHOOL) will be doing a massive mixed media fesitval at the brooklyn anchorage that features a live performance (debut us performance) of Porter Ricks on september 23rd. for those in the area this is not to be missed. saw the postings about hobey echlin and must say as i work with him regularly, he's one of the best writers out there supporting anything that is relevant to this list that has undoubtedly had a positive effect with his writing. not to mention being a key figure in bringing more eclectic styles of music to the pages of Mixer. rah rah - jon JON BERRY PR 631 e.11st., suite 22, new york city 10009 - ph/phax: 212 353 2656 UPCOMING: MILLE PLATEAUX - GEEEZ 'n' GOSH (aka ATOM HEART) 8.22.00, PLURAMON (remixed by LEE RANALDO, SND, MOGWAI, HIGH LLAMAS, MERZBOW, ATOM and others) 9.19.00 RITORNELL - CHRISTOPHE CHARLES 8.15.00, AMBARCHI/FENNESZ/PIMMON/REHBERG/ROWE 9.5.00 FORCE INC. - RAUSCHEN 15 (various artists mixed by DJ JASPER) 9.19.00 FORCE TRACKS - LUOMO (aka VLADISLAV DELAY) 9.5.00 POSITION CHROME - DISORDER (PANACEA + PROBLEM CHILD return!) 9.19.00 NOW PLAYING: IPECAC - KID606 'down with the scene' MILLE PLATEAUX - ROBERT BABICZ (AKA ROB ACID) 'desert' FORCE INC. - AUCH 'kiss tomorrow goodbye' RITORNELL - ASMUS TIETCHENS 'a-Menge', MASCHINELLE STRATEGEME (various artists / unreleased) POSITION CHROME - TWINTONE 'parallel universe', CATIVO 'three seconds is now' ON TOUR: PLURAMON, KID606, + DATACH'I + late-september/october : la, sf, seattle, nyc, detroit, cleveland, chicago + online store open http://www.force-inc.com http://www.mille-plateaux.com Date: Sat, 5 Aug 2000 15:34:50 -0400 To: "idm" <idm@hyperreal.org> From: "brock landers" <illbilly@bellsouth.net> Subject: Re: [idm] caipirinha music - C'mon...
