Unlike most listmembers, I've usually appreciated your posts, Kelley, but
now you've gone and wrecked it with your classic homophobia. I'm really
surprised that a normally chill cat like you would reveal such a
conservative fear of people who, like you, just want to have a good time.
Big deal, so a bunch of guys are eyeing you up. What're you afraid of? How
does the presence of gay guys make you unable to dance? Maybe your secret
gay-bashing fantasy was what caused you to not have a good time.
While in NYC, if you weren't so uptight, you could have gone to check out
the Warehouse in the Bronx. 100% black, 100% gay, 100% fun, 0% attitude -
so much so that a straight white four-eyed geek like me can go in, be the
ONLY straight person (and the only white guy) among 3,000 booty shakin dudes
and still have a great time. I recommended Bang the Party in Fort Greene to
you too, but in hindsight I'm glad you skipped it since as I recall they did
let a good number of gay people in there. I don't think your gay-bashi
The "brothas in detroit" you mentioned, by which I assume you mean the
innovative producers of Detroit Techno, are from what I understand, mostly
gay anyway. You're right about the marketing thing, though: If there weren't
so many homophobes like you Kelley maybe the artists of Detroit wouldn't be
so obscure. It's bad enough that they don't get the props they deserve
because they're mostly black, but the fact that many are gay only makes it
harder. Big help you are.
I apologize to spam the list with this, but I can't EVER let shit like this
go uncountered in public.
