I have been on this list for about five years now and ALWAYS read Lance's posts even if the subject line is something I don't recognise - simply because what Lance has to say is always helpful, meaningful, knowledgeable and *relevant* to this list. Heres the thing Mr. Crusher, when I went to the Shelter over the weekend in NYC, them cats were staring at me and my buddy so hard that we thought we'd have to duke-it out with them chumps.......He gave the estimate that 80% were baddy(homosexual), and the figure was somewhere in that ball park........but the females were so damn fine, I couldnt just leave, plus we had two sweet fems. with us..........everything was cool save the boldness of these cats, which normally would have ended up in me getting real shitty! I told him, as much as I hate it, I just drown myself in the music, and that way---I dont even think about them cats......Needless to say, that didnt fly, and I didnt dance nor have a good time! However, I think the above TRAGEDY has something to do with Marketing and distribution(i.e., the brothas in Detroit cant get their music distributed to all the straight African American cats in the country).....and there is a large amount of brothas that would enjoy the music.....like all the cut throats cats I seen doing the "Jit" in a club called the Outcast in Detroit..........it was these hardcore cats which gave me hope! Unlike most listmembers, I've usually appreciated your posts, Kelley, but now you've gone and wrecked it with your classic homophobia. I'm really surprised that a normally chill cat like you would reveal such a conservative fear of people who, like you, just want to have a good time. Big deal, so a bunch of guys are eyeing you up. I was just down in San Diego over this past weekend, where they were having this gay pride type parade through the Hillcrest/Balboa Park area. I got to hear plenty of terrible clubby disco house. I'm not sure what it is with gay clubs and the worst music in the world, but they always seem to be paired (at least in Southern California). Why do I even bother spending whole weekends pursuing and wooing girls? It's so futile. I should just be gay and give up my IDM snob status. If I had seen a shiny parade float go by with a bunch of guys with glitter on their pecs *and* they were listening to Arovane, I would have put on a Daikatana t-shirt and given up on girls forever. idm: My copy of Gas' _Koenigsforst_ arrived. It's okay, but I was envisioning more of a study of the texture of string instruments and such. 10 minutes of what sounds like overly reverby 'ambient techno' is hard for me to get excited about. Maybe it requires more listens. Also I coughed up the money for Richard Devine mp3s off of emusic. I heartily recommend that everyone on IDM hoard as much Richard Devine as possible, in case there's an earthquake and you're trapped under some rubble for a month. OK, you should be off the list, point blank. Who ever is the list master should simply get rid of this user who's obviously missing the "I" in IDM. Simply put: I feeel very sorry for you, and can only hope that you and people like you stay far, far away from this scene. It's one thing to have an opinion about music, it's another to be a hate monger nazi posing as someone who might have something relevent to add.
