I haven't actually seen the Herbaliser live, so I can't make a comparison to that, but "Session One" is actually very, very cool. Since it's literally a big band (sax, trombone, drums, bass, guitar, trumpets, plus turntables and random other stuff) it sounds very much like a lot of 20's/30's big band music to me, *except that I like it*. Most, if not all, of the songs are versions of songs from Very Mercenary. It's irresitably funky and over the top in a high school pep band sort of way.
