I just picked up Monolake 04 and the flipside, Static, is absolutely wicked. I can't stop listening to it and thinking about it. The beats are nice and punchy I love how it rolls through the deep synth line. I'm not really into the Fragile side, however. It seems too much like Porter Ricks. Maybe they're the same guy? To many aliases. Anyways. how are the previous releases? L8r. Mike

Monolake and Porter Ricks are two entirely different groups with different members - Monolake is Robert Henke & Gerhand Behles and Porter Ricks is Thomas Koner & Andy Mellwig. Monolake really havent dont any other tracks that resemble Static - that shuffle beat is excellent. Fragile, the other side of that ep, is probably more representative of Monolake's sound. If you want an a Monolake album that varies from the familiar Basic Channel/Chain Reaction sound, I recommend their Interstate cd. That one has a nice almost electro tinge to it. The Gobi ep is also cool but that is more of a beatless ambient release. The others releases on Din & Chain Reaction would have that "Porter-Ricks-sound" that you dont seem too keen on but personally I love the early Monolake releases. Monolake releases: . Monolake: arte 12" (Din) . Monolake: cyan i + ii 12" (Chain Reaction) . Monolake: lantau 12" (Chain Reaction) . Monolake: magenta 12" (Chain Reaction) . Monolake: hongkong cd (Chain Reaction) . Monolake: interstate cd (Monolake) . Monolake: tangent 12" (Monolake) . Monolake: gobi - the desert cdep (Monolake) On a related note, there will be a new Monolake ep released next month called "Stratosphere.ice" You can hear samples from Stratosphere.ice along with most of the other Monolake releases at: http://www.monolake.de/ -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i could be wrong, but i think the "gobi: the desert ep" was released after "interstate" on their own monolake label. if you haven't heard it, check it out. it focuses on the ambient side that monolake always threatened to embark on completely but never fully delivered, until now. it's about a half hour of electronic chirps and drones, sounds very much like the 3rd track on interstate gone more ambient. like a desert.... matt

this is going to be one of the best parties i hope- thursday at Filter 14. Actually Monolakes "Cinemascope" is one of my all times best cd's. If someone didnt listen to it yet- highly recomended. What is funny as i am concerned- David Bowie is going to perform at some place like Radio City with couple of other old farting clowns. Tickets ...you know, not less then $40 und up, up to maybe $300. On the other hand for $5 you can go to Filter where actually the very best NY dj-s will with monolake, probably one of the most talented musician of our days !!!!!!! How fucking brainwashed is the public!! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE Valentine eCards with Yahoo!
