All these simple ignorant questions to the list need to stop..... If you go to a thing called a SEARCH ENGINE using your WEB BROWSER i.e. www.yahoo.com www.google.com www.dogpile.com and in that empty text spot, type in: JAKE MANDELL they will find places for you that have lots of info on the name you typed in. for example: on yahoo...the first thing that pops up is his own personal webpage! wow...what more could you ask for in terms of information on an artist? not to mention the endless other webpages that turn up after that regarding jake..... *All of you people that insist upon being lazy and wasting eveyones bandwidth: Go find out for yourself and stop wasting all of our time. questions like "ive been hearing alot about these boards of canada, are they any good? who can give me info on them?" and "My friend told me that autechre is good, what albums do they have out, can someone tell me?" those are just not rational questions to be posting to a mailing list with over 1000 members. there are tons of resources out there on the WORLD WIDE WEB that can answer all your newbie questions for you......if you have searched low and high and found nothing...THEN COME BUG US....but please...stop looking like idiots.... -brock ----- Original Message ----- From: "5x" <sbabakha@videon.wave.ca> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Wednesday, May 17, 2000 9:15 AM Subject: Re: [idm] JAKE MANDELL THIS FRIDAY Can somebody give me some info on mandell? i see your point, but he has a valid question that deserves to be answered in a polite manner. some of us know more than others on this list, and in my opinion part of the reason we have this list is to share info on artist/labels/releases etc... to the person who asked the original question about jake mandell check this link out, it should answer most of your questions http://www.primedeep.com/ greg

yeah, but there's something to be said about trying to find something out on your own before asking for the help of others... alan! np:jawbox:for your own special sweetheart obIDM: new kid spatula is great! better than royal astronomy and at least as good as lunatic harness. is it just me or should there be some kind of kung fu video for "hard love"? that track and some others like it are so abrasive, but it's not a bad thing - they either come at just the right time in the album, or the cacophony is just beautiful. or both. i'm gonna commit cardinal internet sin and leave brock's post on so you can reread it and see that your question was answered by the very thing which caused you to raise the question. hint: it's got something to do with JAKE MANDELL. and it's at the bottom.

i find it quite ironic how you wasted 3kb of my bandwidth displaying how anal you are when my original msg was 1 kb. if you have to complain about an extra kb of information, you're pathetic

then what are good questions? is that a good question to ask?

newbie? i've been on this fucking list for 8 months. get your fucking head out of your pretentious ass before you attempt a flame.

oh, i'm sorry, i disturbed the idm god. are you speaking on behalf of the majority? i find you petty for being an asshole instead of taking two seconds to send me to a link. if that's the way you feel better about yourself, then carry on. sometimes the internet acts as a refuge for people that try and feel better about themselves by living out certain personality fantasies. online, you're an asshole. maybe in person, you're a great guy. i don't know. how about taking the time to contemplate certain things before lashing out. you could not have possibly known that i was taking a shit and making a reply on my palmpilot regarding mandell, could you have? maybe that's why i didn't realize the possiblity of a search engine "w.com.yahoo??" (is that correct?) probably cuz i didn't have one available. regardless, your tendency of being anal is something i think not too many people enjoy. but then again, just because you make yourself look like an idiot everytime YOU post something doesn't mean a thing. next time i make a post, i'll run it by you to make sure it's okay and to see if it fits your standing. get a fucking life, shaun p.s. can somebody send me some info on aphex twin? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hello, I have to agree, people should use the web and the archives. I think it might be helpful if the list admin were to put a link to the archives in the sig of each message. Beyond that, I am not sure how good the archives are for this list. One of the best list archives I know of is for Analogue Heaven, they have a very nice search engine(run by Mark Pulver.) The AH list archives are a good target to shoot for IMO. www.midiwall.com (search for AH archives) I unsubbed from AH because I found that everything I needed to know had already been covered in the archives. Obviously IDM is evolving weekly, but much of what is asked could be covered by the archives(or paying attention to a thread that was huge last month.) Newbies are not trying to intentionally start problems on this list, and I think that needs to be taken into consideration. It might be less satisfing to send them a private email explaining some things to them, rather than flaming. It might not be as fun now, but it will probably make the list a better place in the long run. I am sure I was an idiot when I joined the 313 list 5 years ago, and I would like to think I have become slightly less of an idiot since then. Everybody has got to start somewhere, and it is better to get the newschool educated about the good stuff here, rather than let Spin or some crap dance mag tell them about fat boy slim elsewhere. :) Take care, Mike Taylor -- Michael Taylor : Chrome3@ix.netcom.com http://homes.arealcity.com/Intermodal/index.html http://www.mp3.com/TheMSProject --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

oh, i'm very sorry that a minimal request post quite possibly ruined your day by adding to the MB's of useless mail you get. forgiveness please...

wow! in an attempt to make yourself look better, you almost completely ignore the fact that you committed an ad hominem first! lest we forget..."stop looking like idiots....". i don't know about you but it seems as though you were wrong. hmm...

that's because you can't. you know you were being unreasonable and that's that. again, you try and make yourself look superior by saying in a cocky fashion "it was the highlight of my evening". i think i would use that as a counter-argument to your inquiry of my patheticness. i look forward to seeing your reply in my inbox in the morning...g tah... shaun --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
