kb of On average i would say that I receive 2-4 emails a day that could be answered by a simple websearch, so lets say in a good year thats around 1000 lazy emails, at 1-2kb a piece. SO my excuse is, my 3kb was intended at getting rid of the 1-2 megabytes a year. but wait! thats 1-2 megabytes x 1000+ listees thats 1 or 2 gb of laziness a year as opposed to my 3megs

Hello, I have to agree, people should use the web and the archives. I think it might be helpful if the list admin were to put a link to the archives in the sig of each message. Beyond that, I am not sure how good the archives are for this list. One of the best list archives I know of is for Analogue Heaven, they have a very nice search engine(run by Mark Pulver.) The AH list archives are a good target to shoot for IMO. www.midiwall.com (search for AH archives) I unsubbed from AH because I found that everything I needed to know had already been covered in the archives. Obviously IDM is evolving weekly, but much of what is asked could be covered by the archives(or paying attention to a thread that was huge last month.) Newbies are not trying to intentionally start problems on this list, and I think that needs to be taken into consideration. It might be less satisfing to send them a private email explaining some things to them, rather than flaming. It might not be as fun now, but it will probably make the list a better place in the long run. I am sure I was an idiot when I joined the 313 list 5 years ago, and I would like to think I have become slightly less of an idiot since then.
