I bought mine yesterday and I must say it's at least as good as "windstorms broken microphones" - not quite the riot the last one was (though not for lack of trying), but still _extremely_ disrupted. --- the humble abbott arthur purvis set his hand hereto --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

been listening to the new downpour 12" on drop beat almost constantly... some fast paced dark breakbeat moments, and a lot of more chilled out (but still haunting) almost "trip hoppy" tracks... just sorta though... recommended, especially if you liked "windstorms broken microphones" as much as I did - i think this one's maybe a tad better. --- the humble abbott arthur purvis set his hand hereto --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hmm, I'm just listening to a Hood 7" as I read this and am in love with that (non-IDM) band. Can anyone who's into Hood as well as Downpour let me know whether the kinds of electronics that lurk in the background of Hood records are comparable to the Downpour stuff? I love the atmospheres they make.. the murk and crust and the found samples that sound like they were recorded via a pair of walkman headphones or something. This 7", BTW, is fantastic. It's on Rocket Racer records, who seem to operate solely via mail order (?). It's more blatantly sample based than other Hood recordings.. lots of tweaked loops etc. Still very much a band, with vocals and guitars, just hacked into chunks and re-structured. very similar to what you're describing, but not so similar to the Hood album I have... which, btw, is very good as well (called silent 88).

i think matt is just doing the TEF releases, i know in the past he used to do some pre-flying saucer attack(lynda's strange vacation), he also did a remix on the hood remixes on drop beat. i dont know i could be wrong? remote viewer (johnson/tattersall) is comparable to downpour, as well as, the famous boyfriend releases, if you can find em. i dont know you could play six degrees of hood all day long. will.i.am i dont really know if this answered any questions or not. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Matt Elliot definitely produced the last Hood album, 'The Cycle of Days and Seasons', and I believe he also had a hand in 1998's 'Rustic Houses Forlorn Valleys'. no he definitely produced some recent Hood stuff - read about it in an interview with him after the release of Little Los Soul.
