... Could someone post a list of artists who have hidden tracks found by rewinding the beginning of track #1? I'd be interested in knowing which cd's i've got here that might fall in this category. Thanks... Pietro. _______________________________ Pietro Da Sacco, mbm@netcore.ca The Circular Cosmic Spot http://www.sdriver.com/spot

I've heard that the first X-Files soundtrack (the one of music from/"influenced by" the tv show, not the movie one) had a track or two indexed in this way. And the upcoming Legion of Green Men album, Floating In Shallow Water, will have a minute or so intro track indexed before track 1. Greg

the unkle us promo cd for psyence fiction has a nice bonus track. Hidden for a reason. Kinda fun finding all the copyright violations. I think the uk version has this as well. -daniel On Thu, 28 Jan 1999, `Pietro wrote:

This is a list I got off some newspaper article about strangely pressed CDs, many of which have negative seconds before the first track. I added a few more at the end... Better Than Ezra, Friction Baby, live French song, track 1, -3:22 Cracker, Kerosene Hat, 99 tracks, songs at 69, 88, 99 Dramarama, Vinyl, 99 tracks, "Stevie's Here" spread over tracks 16-99 Galactic Cowboys, Space in Your Face, 32 tracks, 10-31 silent, songs at track 21 -5:21, 32 Willie Nelson, Moonlight Becomes Her, Willie explaining the record track 1- They Might Be Giants, Factory Showroom, "Tokan Back to Brooklyn" track 1, -1:03 V/A, Songs in the Key of X, three songs before track one (or, Nick Cave track?) V/A, Twisted Willie, Johnny Cach and Waylon Jennings talking about Willie Nelson, track 1- ELO, Face the Music "collector's edition", snippet of track one played backward, track 1- Information Society "Hack", track is actually sound of modem transaction - story - According to what I read, if you play this CD into an old style "put up to the phone" analog type modem, a story will type out... how odd, huh? T.Power, Self Evident Truth, big track in - - Before the last track (not listed on the CD, by the way) is a bunch of negative seconds with some crazy sounds, a bunch of samples not really coming together into any kind of rhythm or harmony. Add to the list industrial "rawk" dorks Sister Machine Gun's album... uh... shit, can't remember the title, but it was the third one. Song was "Strange Days" I believe a cover of a Doors tune? Sounds like a reject from the Strange Days Soundtrack, released around the same time. Not worth remembering for any other reason. jeremy x axon graphic designer sans portfolio

the recent "dugga dugga dugga" compilation on WMO includes a hidden track (around -2:30 or so)...the new boo radleys disc "kingsize" does as well... note to all those out there with sonic foundry cd architect (and probably other burning software like red roaster) - it's pretty easy to include tracks before #1 on yr discs. impress yr friends and family...pq list editing can be fun. doug // audiopig rorshach@execpc.com

I have three that have been mentioned already: They Might Be Giants - Factory Showroom (Elektra) V/A - X-Files: Songs In The Key Of X (Warner Bros.) UNKLE - Psyence Fiction (UK ltd. ed. version) (Mo' Wax) and one that hasn't been mentioned yet: V/A - Chiky(u)u (Ash International) Both of the V/A discs mention the hidden track somewhere in the liner notes. The TMBG and UNKLE do not. -- Adam J Weitzman NewsEdge Corporation Is it supposed to sound like that? http://www.newsedge.com http://www.newspage.com

also the new mono puff alubm (john flansburgh of TMBG side-project) has a couple of minutes worth of simple-text narration before the first track. oh, and less than jake's "losing streak" has a short story before the first track. and i'm out. On Fri, 29 Jan 1999, Adam J Weitzman wrote:
