the first "idm" CD i bought was the orb's orbvs terrarvm, and when it came
up as 79+ minutes, i was like "wow... more bang for the buck!" and then i
got afx's "i care", which is less than 70, and although not disappointed
(at all... far better than orbvs in my opine), i was like "hmmm... how
come not 70+?"
i remember the debate about the rdj album. at first i thought it sucked
that it was so short, but now i'm glad i have the UK version, because i
don't like hearing the boy/girl ep right after. even at 33 minutes, it's a
very complete album. hell, what about bochum welt's "module 2". what's
that? 28 minutes or something, i think. but based on two ep's i've heard
from him, i'm happy to lay out $26 to get the japanese version (w/desktop
robotics). i can't wait to hear it.
as for the TLS album, i think the length is great. it's complete. i've
actually found myself starting to roll my eyes when i see something that's
over 70 minutes. like plug's drum 'n bass for papa. i just can not get
into it. too long. and the tracks are too long. tooooo much activity. i
like albums that are really active to either be shorter or have a lot of
songs of shorter length.
a good example of this:
mu-ziq's urmur bile trax 8 tracks, 67 minutes. boring.
mu-ziq's lunatic harness 13 tracks, 71 minutes. great album.
i'm done thinking for now.
alan!
