Have you tried ordering from Emigre itself? I think they sell back issues, though this one in particular may be tough to order... My roomate has it, though I doubt she would part with it. It's not so much the graphics but the interview that make the issue... I'll ask her if she knows how to get ahold of one... peace Nate On Fri, 15 Jan 1999, Ernesto Ikerd wrote:

uhm, just for reference, this issue of eMigre hasn't been available since in was originally put out by them, it's one of best issues yet, BUT i'll have to say this: you have a better chance at finding a copy of the Lego Feet 12" for sale somewhere than this issue of eMigre. Ian at DR had a extra copy he auctioned off a while ago and got around 165 dollars for it. and i've seen a couple of people selling their copies, but for no less than 150 dollars... sorry to disappoint people, just wanted to inform,.,.,.,..., fear and loathing on the copier service call. -kiya i am a copier. we are not all copiers.

I lucked out and managed to get it direct from them, but that was 2 years ago... I was thinking of scanning the whole thing and putting it into a pdf file or something like that, though there's the pesky copyright issue to contend with, but I was going to email emigre and aske them about this... would anyone be interested in such a thing? q does anyone have the 4AD/Vaughn Oliver issue???

I certainly would like to read it, although going to the trouble of making a pdf would be a pain in the ass. I'm sure some jpegs would suffice for simple reading/drooling purposes.

Finally a man with some sense on this list! DR are the shit and all, but for years they've been doing this overstimulation thing over and over again (until they switched to this whole minimalist Helvetica phase, which I think is pretty punk). Vaughn Oliver is a much better designer, he can do all sorts of different styles and still make the highest quality designs. Sorry, although both TDR and Vaughn Oliver are indeed the shit, I'd have to say that Peter Saville (Factory Records... RIP) blows them all away. Factory started the whole post-punk design craze thing, even before 4AD. Not to mention their habit of releasing crazy promo items like flipbooks, bust statuettes, rulers, etc. I wonder where SKAM and Warp are getting alot of their ideas from??! Check out the Jega interview in the recent issue of "Obsessive Eye." Dylan himself acknowledges this. Just my two cents worth... -Mike

Peter Saville got an honor mention in the issue of Wallpaper* 100. he termed it 'shredding'.
