Seconded.. I don't know what to say apart from it's a real shock. He was a unique talent.

yeah, played some muslimgauze tracks today on my radio show and mentioned his passing, and i actually recieved more calls than i ever have before...most of them saying that they couldn't believe it. i think his music reached alot more people than we would tend to believe. .. brian rachielles audio/kcsb 91.9 fm santa barbara http://www.rain.org/~audio On Fri, 15 Jan 1999, Giles Ward wrote:

In the current climate of violence, bombings, anti-American protest marches and deaths brought about by our local Muslim population*, who are vowing to make our country ungovernable, it seems incongruous to mourn the death of so pronounced a supporter. But I appreciated him for his innovative and certainly copious output as well as his dedication. The first M/Gz related release I purchased was Occupied Territories : the double CD of remixes (because I had moral hiccups buying his records and thus putting money toward his cause) but I soon relented and got a few more of his works. I hope my collection may grow. He surely has left behind a huge legacy. ***90 albums?!?!*** [* I am speaking for the Western Cape region of South Africa. Certain shopping centres are currently road blocked and monitored by the Defence Force due to further militant threats.] I * np : all the Muslim Gauze I own, on rotation ...

His politics made him a troublesome artist. Despite that, I found myself coming back to his works. His music for me was at times ambient, violent, dub induced, experimental and meloncholy. Even though I cannot agree with his beliefs I respected the fact that he did not preach his ths thoughts or push the issues on the listener. He left it up to you whether you wanted to know more. However, I also respected him to have such beleifs. He stood up for what he beleived was right. I may not agree but I can respect conviction. Later, this weekend I will review a few Muslimgauze releases I own. I will do this in respect and in the hope that someone who is not familliar will want to become aquainted. He will be missed. -daniel

He was a great musician and I loved him very much. It is indeed a tragedy and the only thing we all can do is to remember him by what he made. At least I will. Let him rest in peace. Alien. brian wrote:
