I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good pair of headphones. My price range is around 100-150 bucks. I looked into the Grado's but didn't really think the bass was punchy enough. I'll be listening to mostly electronically created music, and want a good frequency range. I've heard Sony makes some good ones, but I don't know which model number to get. Anyone info would be appreciated. Ario. _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. I've got a pair of Sony MDR-7506's which costed me $120 from Musician's Friend. They are definitely the best headphones I've ever used :) they have very good bass and highs.. Frequency responce if I remember correctly is 12-20,000hz. __ __\ \ / /_\ \ \_____/ "..in whatever you do, if you can't break new ground, what's the point?" - James Cameron

i've got sennheiser. they have unbelievable clarity, even at damaging volume levels (hey, some squarepusher gots to be real loud). response is slightly weak on the low end unless you buy an enclosed pair, though. * #### a disturbance in a system. #### laerm. @voicenet.com #### one time and you're a philosopher; two times and you're a pervert.

i've had sony (lasted 2 months) and sennheiser (have lasted 4 years). sennheiser every time. many people still have their 15 year old hd414s.. they're built to last <waves>

Agreed. Enclosed every time. And beware the little plug-in thingies which are NOT good news for eardrums. You may all disagree, but I just buy lots of pairs of pretty cheap ones, that give me good response and sound-staging. One for the walkman, one for the CD/tape mastering and a HUGE old Marantz pair for vinyl which clamps on real tight and makes me look like a Mars Attacks extra :-) I love shutting out the world (personal bit). I * np : Anokha (FINALLY got hold of this) Gee.. track 7 (feat. Leone) sounds much like Bjork... anyone agree?

for all day listening at work i have found nothing better than koss porta-pros. they are incredibly cheap. they look rather like overgrown walkman headphones and they have the most solid bass of any headphone so small and light. as they're open-ear you can hear what's going on around you (good for work) and they let your ears breathe (good for wearing 8 hours at a stretch). lifetime guarantee so if you snap the connector off (as i did) they replace them no questions asked. for dj'ing and performing i use the sony mdr-v6's. they are pretty much industry-standard for dj's because they are unbelievably efficient. which means you can hear them over all the noise in the club. they aren't very comfortable for extended periods of time because they are closed-ear and they tend to make your ears sweat. but the bass is monstrous. i don't know any musician who doesn't have at least one set. -jsd-

has anyone checked out a set of enclosed headphones called Vivanco SR 250? they're really cheap but the sound is superb. what's also nice is that they don't need much to drive them, you can get excellent (and loud) sounds from a walkman/discman. I was looking for a set of seinheisser's which could be driven from a discman, but to my dismay I could barely hear anything out of them at full volume :-( austin.
