This new ep on the Detroit Planet E label is a bit of a different sound for them. These tracks, produced by Matt Chicoine and Carl Craig, are in the trip hop, d&b and funky downtempo styles sounding like a mix of Portishead, older DJ Krush and Tek9/4Hero. This release would be more appropriate for the MoWax label. It's an interesting listen but I don't think i'll be playing it with much regularity. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

from the upcoming, yet unreleased reviews. Reclose - So this is the dining room - 12" - Planet E - pe65237 Carl Craig's Planet E turned from a little label back in 1992 towards a well respected 'somewhat bigger' label, lately releasing both Moodymann and Kevin Saunderson compilations. They still keep on providing deep quality. Recloose is Matt Chicoine from Ann Arbor, doing his first recorded stuff. Tracks range from jazzy downtempo stuff in Dencity to junglistic breaks in Dislocate. Mym230 (R.I.P.) on the flip is a brilliant piece of house oriented stuff. First somewhat reminding to older Herbert-stuff, later on more towards Moodymann styled relaxing tune. Kenjji Marshall, from Sigma 6, did the markable cover illustration.
