I don't know whether or not to agree or disagree. The reason I love my
synth so much isn't really anything sentimental. I was just kidding really.
But it's better than anything I know. If there was a softsynth that was half
as good as my hardware synth, I'd be more than happy to use it. I have a
number of soft synths and things like that, and i think they're shit
compared to the real thing. Plus I really hate sequencing. I have yet to
find a way to actually get a real sounding song out of just my computer.
ReBirth is nice, and it got me into making music, but it's so limitied by
what your computer can do and you can't really do much with it outside of
rebirth. same with Surreal. It makes a bunch of cool sounds using a midi
controller, but what the hell is that gonna do? I will say, that if
Propellerheads' Reason is as good as it looks, I'm going to buy it....
twice. And eventually I'll sell my JP, if i like reason enough. But until
then, I'm sticking with my hardware.
example: I own a roland R8. I also own Fruity Loops. I find FL to be 100
times better than any drum machine, just because it can do so much. But I
can't seem to find a real soft synth that sounds like I want it to, and does
what I want it to do.
PS. The only people that prefer software over hardware are the one's that
don't own any hardware. I'd like to have a real 303 over rebirth. any day.
I'm tired.
