Warp have always stated that they will stick to their "100% independent" quote - they didn't do a Mo'Wax and sign-up with a big label for example, when they could have done. The US distribution deal is just that - a distribution deal.

Yeah, I think that would've been the Aphex deal. See above. Warp won't sign as a 'sub-label'.

Nightmares on Wax. Possibly future LFO material (this is more sketchy). Mark Clifford (Disjecta, Seefeel possibly). Possibly more Mira Calix.

That didn't happen, from what I can gather.

Something like that. That is a worry I guess for Warp - Rich just might put his stuff out through Rephlex. I dunno though - this is all up to Rich.

I disagree. The recent release line-up (Plaid, Squarepusher, Aphex, Ae) was one of their strongest yet. And you know that Rob and Steve won't be sitting on their arses, waiting for the latest Ae or Aphex DAT to roll-in - they're still hunting for new artists and have a few interesting things lined-up that some of you IDM'ers might well be into. Give them time - I reckon they deserve it.

The Klute remix on the flip? Didn't sound like Photek - in fact I thought it was pretty bunk. The Ae remix is tops though. The beats sound like a break but it seems like its all fucked-up white noise crunch. My only quibble with it is that they do that kind of now-standard Ae thang of slowly introducing those fractured, almost unconnected background chords and then at the end, drop the beat leaving the weird chords on their own. But the beats are damn excellent. OnThisMorning: Autechre : _Cavity Job_ (it's nice having someone else's record collection to listen to) || [CiM] || simonw@sol.ftp.com || -

According to Amanda at Emmisions, Andy and Keith have signed to Warp as TLS. The will continue to release on Emmissions under a pseudomym. However, as usual, time will tell. Granted warp aren't the sole force behind the development of experimental listening music in the UK, but they are and have been one of the more important labels.
