To follow-up on the Tortoise talk: Along with "Millions Now Living...," i think their debut self-titled release is pretty damn amazing as well .. and on an IDM-related note, Tortoise released (i believe) 5 vinyl gems with remixes from "Millions Now Living..." which i think is amazing. They recently rereleased these mixes on CD .. but it's a Japanese import and will probably set you back about $25-$30. but i think it's well worth it. remixes by U.N.K.L.E., Spring Heel Jack, Luke Vibert, and more! amazing little album if you can search it out.. by the way, anyone know the title of the remix album for their first release? i think it's been out of print for quite some time...but if anyone knows where i can find it .. please let me know ! thanks! and one final thing, if anyone has any info. about their new upcoming release .. please fill me in .. thanks again! sean.

I'll second that. I like it equally as much, if not maybe a tad more than Millions.

Yup, definitely great material, whether you've got the 12"s or the CD. Especially good if you enjoy the remixers as well as Tortoise.

You're speaking of "Rhythms, Resolutions & Clusters", which is absolutely brilliant, IMO. Remixes by Jim O'Rourke (a treat for subwoofers), Steve Albini, Casey Rice (the band's sound man), Brad Wood, Rick Brown, Bundy Brown (ex-bassist) & McEntire himself. You're right about it being o/p, and you'd be hard pressed to find it now. It was limited to 1000 copies on both CD & LP format (I believe) and was on Thrill Jockey. I was almost lucky enough to get a vinyl version of this gem (I own the CD) direct from John, but for various rasons the deal never went through. A while ago I heard rumors of a repress, but alas, nothing has come of it. Best thing would be just to keep your eyes peeled for a possible used copy, or someone selling/auctioning theirs. If you're really serious I'd suggest writing to Thrill Jockey or Tortoise themselves. Both of these addresses are on their albums.

Working title is TNT. Should be a full 60+ minute affair, CD & 2LP. They played a lot of the new material live on their recent small tour of the US & Canada ... excellent stuff, heavy on the polyrhythms, and judging by the shows, lots of bongo drums. Guitarist Jeff Parker (whom they collaborated with for the song "Wait") has joined the band, and his input is excellent. Scheduled for a fall release, hopefully in October? Check out last month's Option (Cardigan's cover) for a story on all this. -Patrick np: Flux - "Protoplasmic"

Yeah it's wicked, specially "Cornpone Brunch", it has that nice sample at the beginning.

Thrill Jockey sends out a nice catalog that's basically a folded up sheet of paper with prices. Nice prices though.

I read that it was a little Drum 'n Bass influenced but I just read that in Option magazine.
