Am I mistaken, or have we gotten about a hundred new list members in the past two or three weeks? We seem to be talking about a lot of stuff we talked about a few months ago. The newbies seem *much* smarter than the old newbies though. I haven't seen much smakmyketchup or "what's IDM" or Nine Inch Nose spam yet. A warm welcome to all of you fresh new "faces"! But a warning: Don't disappoint everybody and start talking about yootoo or the chemistry brothers or whatever they're called. -CF

Well - here I am : one of those fresh new faces on the idm list, and I've just spent half the morning downloading the incoming mails :-/ VINYL RULES !!! No doubt in my mind that the sound is 'warmer' and a better tone can be achieved, especially when running your output through a pre-amp. CD's, however pristine in their clinical clarity, somehow lack the soul of a really good vinyl pressing. Unfortunately it's *hard* to find current vinyl here (South Africa). Most available vinyl is 80's rock in junk shops or 12" 4-on-the-floor dance stuff. (and hello and thanks to Christopher Fahey for the warm welcome) I *
