hey relax, you may be right, but Jim O'Rourke's Moikai Label has put out numerous brilliant 'undeniably idm' releases such as Lithops and the incredibly superb Nuno Cannavaro "Plux Quba" reissue. The latter has really grown on me well over the past few months... does anyone else agree with me or am i offbase? ~ josh --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Surely you jest. People have always talked about ambient music on this list. Do we have a drum volume requirement now? FennOBerg is arch-IDM. It fits in beautifully with the current glitch-culture happening here. Not only that but its fabulously good. CheersAndrewC. James Mason:

So under your definition, the following things should never be discussed on this list? 1) Aphex Twin - Select Ambient Works 1 + 2 2) Wagon Christ - Phat Lab Nightmare 3) Sun Electric - Kitchen, anything 4) Brian Eno - On Land, Music for Films, Music for Airports 5) Slag Van Loom 6) Jake Mandell - Healing 7) Fennesz - Plays, Hotel Parallel 8) Seefeel - Quique, Succour, Ch-vox 9) Farmers Manual 10) Mixmaster Morris/Irresistable Force Ambient may be ambient. But ambient is also a subset of what can be called IDM. Most artists that we dub as "IDM" (a term I try to use loosely if at all - seems like a necessary evil on this list) also veer into the ambient direction, not to mention hip-hop, drum'n'bass, trance, musique concrete, dub, etc. Unless you establish a Crossover Gestapo, you're going to be hard pressed to avoid the discussion of people like O'Rourke who works with and is befriended with artists like Fennesz, Hecker, Pita, Autechre, and Mouse on Mars, who I guess are deemed "IDM." My only contention is that there are other lists for discussing other music. To be honest, I switched off the digest version of this list, and onto individual messages, and it seemed like the signal-to-noise ratio grew exponentially. So I'll be switching back, because the volume (in all senses of the word) is lower. There's a lot of noise on this list, and I'm still adding to it. So, then, anyone want to discuss the relative merits of Plaid's remix of Bjork's "All is Full of Love" ? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Stein" <mstein@MasterChart.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Cc: "'James R.
