erm. title says it all really. i've been building a list of tunes that
promote sexual smuttiness while with a loved one in a dark, cold room
ever since i read a like article in mixmag two years ago. just thought
i'd share:
witchman - explormenting beats
mighty dark, mighty low fi. deep sub bass rumbling. the
proper amount of hiphop + rnb funk flavor to evoke the
dirtiest of thoughts. john roome - a digital barry white.
terre thaemlitz - soil
when i interviewed terre two years ago, i asked him what he
thought people should do with his music. "my music is fucking
music," he replied. i have had, er, bad luck with other
ambient recordings [76:14, blue room, saw 2] before, but was
surprised at how sexy _soil_ really is. i think the appeal
is in the mysterious nature of the recording. odd samples
and noodling fading in and out. faint voices in the background.
and, most importantly, the rumbling bass. very unobtrusive.
underworld - second toughest in the infants
this record moves. amazing fuck potential, as my pal adam
once told me. dirty guitars blare and echo, beats pulsate,
and some strange brit screaming about god knows what.
lo recordings vol 1 and 2 + united mutations
a fantastic collection of downtempo, drum'n'bass, floaty beatlessness,
and post-rock. i feel like i'm necking in a club. except i miss the
cigarette smoke. condom manufacturers will soon owe their business
to john tye and the lo recordings label.
millard fillmore - smut beats
a special mixtape of mostly source direct stuff. 90 minutes or so
of non stop drum'n'bass. i think source direct produce some of the
sexiest drum'n'bass around - and i'm always on the look out for new
goods. i'd be glad to offer a dub publically.
bill laswell - oscillations
god bless bill and his funk bass.
sub dub - sub dub
this is the SHIT. tribal drums, hip hop flavor, and bass so earth
shattering, it almost takes care of the movement for you. dub was
created for the bedroom in mind. the sub dub lp was really the first
record that worked and worked well non-stop. deep.
AVOID LIKE THE CLAP:
saw2, the blue room/u.f.orb, 76:14, drum'n'bass for papa, seti,
timeless, azimuth, anything by richard h. kirk [a sad surprise].
ghh. one sexy mf.
