ok, so I saw the Ninja tune thing on Sat, and loved (most of) it. Today I put on my Can'tStand the Beatz....etc. comp, and noticed, well, everything seemed REALLY slow in comparison to what was presented live. Obviously Funki Porcini(who spun some jungle type stuff, which seems to depart from the his cds that i own), the Up Bustle and Out djs and everyone there Sat. would spin stuff that was faster and got the crowd dancing...maybe most of it wasn't their material, but, well, my question: I don't have that much N.T. stuff, can anyone recommend some material by people on this label that appraoches the style(faster trip-hop/ trip-hop jungle mesh)of their live stuff? I'd really appreciate it :) thanks andy ps this is not to say that i don't enjoy the laid back, jazzy trip-hop stuff I've got, I really like that as well, but I think i need to explore this genre more....

Well, I'd recommend you pick up the DJ Food, 'Refried Food' remix cd if you don't already got it. Its a good mix of laid back trip hop remixed by Wagon Christ, Dr. Rockit, Fila Brazillia and others. Then there's the mad breakbeats provided by Mr. Jenkinson. Then there are funky upbeat remixes from Autechre and Skint, and Tongue and Groove. Overall, a real gem! AtL-5

Also, while not on NinjaTune, but on Mo Wax, is about the dopest midtempo dnb type track I've heard: the Bug in the Bassbin 4 Hero mix. When are Mark and Dego coming out with new shit? Soon I hope. Nate Nate Harrison Digital Magician Inc. www.digimagician.com nate@digimagician.com 313.994.7316

By the end of the year, from all the reports I've read (maybe sooner?). Of course, Jockey Slut claimed it was to be titled '21st Century Soul' which is actually a compilation on Talkin' Loud (their current label, at least for 4 Hero). Supposedly there's new Jacob's Optical Stairway (one of the most underrated LPs of 1996 IMHO) stuff in the pipeline for R&S as well. The new 4 Hero is probably the upcoming release I'm looking forward to most right now, along with the Photek album and the new Global Communication. I know exactly what you mean as I was at the show also. I own quite a few Ninja discs and although they are great the don't contain much of the frenzied jungle beats that were played on Saturday night. The re-fried food remix album as recommended by others will not meet you requirements with the exception of the squarepusher track. If you haven't already, do check out squarepusher's latest (they even included Vic Acid in their set). I'm not sure if thats it for the current Ninja Stealth tour but if it comes you way don't miss it. If you manage to find this one on vinyl (the whole thing is 6 slabs of vinyl), buy it. you get more music (for you $$$, sure), I guess twice as much as on the CD, plus its on vinyl ;-), plus some of the remixes will make the guy who started this thread happy (I have parts 5 and 6, Mr Scruff's Ninja Tune Megamix on part 6 might be what you're looking for, even tho it's not the best mix I've heard..) mk
