Just picked up the Blondie remix project CD. 10 out of the 11 tracks were the usual hideous club-shite (some even more hideous than usual), but the Black dog remix was quite lovely and out of place among the other tracks (and pushed off to the very end of the CD, natch). How did this particular remix come to be? Ken, can you elaborate? Mr. Goodwrench

Hi Richard,

I think it was fixed up by 'Vinnie Vero' at Chrysalis records. He had heard of us, and was putting a remix album together, so gave us a call. Ed and Andy hadn't heard of "Blondie", so it was suggested that I do it on my own, while they did the "Neds atomic Dustbin" remix they'd secured. It took me 4 days of sampling, and hair pulling before it was finished, but the results (i feel) were worth it. The cherry on the cake for me, was when debbie harry said "The Black DOg mix is the most strange and beautiful take of a blondie song that ive ever heard." words which are still tattooed into my psyche and keep me going. I wanted to do 4 in all, because she has such a beautiful voice, but "Fade Away" was all they would let me 'get away with'. If you listen to the lyrics, it could as easily be about an internet junkie, as a TV addict. Thanks for asking, Ken ps, mondo1@sirius.com bounced....but "Yes Please. Interested." -- + . /\___/\ . * | < The Black Dog > | + * . . * . . * (. .) + | | . * . * + ___ooO__\-/__Ooo___ | | + + + + . /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ | Dogma >> | http://www.feedback.com/tbd/ * 3-5-3 * (Dis)information > | tbd@feedback.com

Nope,it came out in 1995, before Scala, and has remixes from MK, Armand van Helden, Utah Saints, and a bunch of folks I never heard of, along with that Black Dog remix. Nothing on the disc is worth the powder to blow it up except for the Black Dog remix. 'Nuff said. Goodwrench P.S. You did get me interested, and now I'll have to dig out my copy of "Beauty Nowhere" and check out the track you mentioned.
