hey, I was in a store and the guy was playing some really good jubngleish/ambient stuff. He said it was the new cd by Spring Heel Jack... I've looked around, it seems as though they have a few discs, and make other types of music as well. Which is their "new" or latest release(import from UK I think)? 68 Million Shades is the second album from this duo. I know little about the band, but from a critical perspective (from repeated listenings at the store) this album starts brilliantly, and sounds very fresh, and clean. Unfortunately, after the first 3-4 tracks, the rest of the album is a bit of a let down. Will listen to it a little more though...might even buy it! They is a couple of guys... forgot their names, and I don't want to go upstairs and get the CD (too lazy!!!). That doesn't matter anyway. The new album is called "68 Million Shades". They also have an older one that is fairly out of print called "There Are Strings". I don't get into their sound... too "digital", few dynamics, repititous, thin, tinny, cheesy in a very bad way (the title track from the first album sounds like it's from the "Sailor Moon" soundtrack)... oh well, this is just mah opinions an such. But there y'all go. If you dig TPower's album, you'll probably like them. Everything else you seein is just remixes and such... one for EBTG, and a couple from their albums. Me Who is feeling red-nequey today. Bye.

You just might get your wish. They are supporting Orbital on their tour this fall.

Looks like I'm getting my wish even sooner - Spring Heel Jack is appearing in SEATTLE at Electrolush on Friday, November 1 (thank god not Halloween). Aparently they played SanFran last night? What I want to know is where the hell they're gonna be this week - maybe somewhere else on the Left Coast? A Portland appearance would save me a 3 hour drive (a Vancouver appearance would tempt me sorely....). Che

Promo's are out for it, so should be next month or two. Clothing store I was shopping at was playing it. It was able to peg it as Spring Heel Jack. 2 or 3 tunes I heard sounded very nice.

It came out in the USA yesterday, 9/23. It's called _Busy Curious Thirsty_. As for your other two questions, I have only listened to about of half of it, so I'll reserve judgement for now; However, I did like what I've heard so far. Out 2 Lunch With Lunchmeat, Paul wesley@interaccess.com

Hale-Bopp EP I got this one a few weeks back and forgot to say something about it (or maybe I did, and forgot that I said something). :-) It's got a Doc Scott remix that is pretty good, but nothing special. Just a standard Doc Scott track: clean, minimal drum programing, nice bass line and all that... The Spring Heel Jack mix is great. The most fucked up stuff I've heard from them yet. A little bit of wacky amen (if I remember correct), kind of feels a bit like Squarepusher or Funki Porcini. I hope the lp has more of this style stuff...don't get me wrong, I like the smooth stuff they've done (ie: 68 million...), but 'hale-bopp' is pretty mad shit! word to the mothership, brock. np: Dj SS - 'lighter'
