I'd agree. Although I like most everything, Incunabula is easily the best Auteche album.

Could someone post a URL with the Reflective discography or post it here please? Can't find it on the Web despite searching. It doesn't seem to be on the hyperreal site for some strange reason. T.

Yep, I'm with you both....Incunabula is my favourite of their albums, I feel they lost their way with Amber and then regained it on Tri Repetae. Amber just doesn't seem to fit with the others, it seems rushed hurried and mainly just beats, whereas the others have very beautiful/dark melodies on them. -- Ben Coffer Hybrid Productions http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

This will be my last post on the subject; someone else can defend Amber from now on. Autechre's strongest melodies and sublest textures are Amber. Nothing else they've done comes close. There is nothing hurried and nothing out of place on the whole record. It's one of the handful of real IDM masterpieces. It does require very careful listening. I hope they've got another record like it up their sleeves somewhere. I haven't spent enough time with Chiastic to be certain, but so far it doesn't sound like it's going to be the one. The Gescom EP on clear screams for a wider release. Miles

The things is I did not 'get' Amber, although I bought it when it came out, until after I got Tri... It was then that I saw Ae's big picture. Some of the most beautiful IDM I have heard is on Amber. For anyone who does not like Amber as much as Incanubula, I suggest listening to the Ae discography in chronological order, especially the EP's to understand their sound's maturation. However, it's hard to pinpoint Amber as my favorite work overall, since each Autechre work is so completely different.
