This will be my last post on the subject; someone else can defend Amber from now on. Autechre's strongest melodies and sublest textures are Amber. Nothing else they've done comes close. There is nothing hurried and nothing out of place on the whole record. It's one of the handful of real IDM masterpieces. It does require very careful listening. I hope they've got another record like it up their sleeves somewhere. I haven't spent enough time with Chiastic to be certain, but so far it doesn't sound like it's going to be the one. The Gescom EP on clear screams for a wider release. Miles
