I've been on this list since January and I haven't heard anything about Black Dog's album "Parallel". What's it like, compared to "Bytes" and "Spanners" that I have? Is it worth buying? Parallel is great - a collection of some of the early releases that BDP put out on GPR. The first four tracks, or even the first two, would have been enough for me to pick this up. I think it's closer to Bytes in terms of the variety of the tracks, the intricacy of the layering of beats, and the melodic appeal. The last of which I thought Spanners lacked a lot, but that's me. I think at the time of its release, Ken or maybe the other guys too weren't too happy about GPR making a cheap buck with their back catalog, but who are we the poor fans to complain? :) I'd also highly recommend their second (according to one count) album, Temple of Trasparent Balls. Some IDMers didn't like this too much, but I find the tracks charming and experimental at once, in a quirky, low-key way. On now:: Pizzicato Five: K.I.S.S. In fact, _Temple of Transparent Balls_ is my favorite Black Dog work. I love it because it fuses the great melodies found on _Bytes_ with the more odd ball sound of _Spanners_. Plus you gotta love that cover... ________________E_r_i_c___F_r_a_n_s________________ [mail]--------------------->franse@engr.arizona.edu [web]->http://www.azstarnet.com/~slyons/exoticblend

the short answer is yes , the vir21 remixes make it worth the entrance fee alone , these tracks a were released when the uk was swimming in a tide of italian pianos and progressive house, even warp was releasing dodgy tunes at this time (pre aI) , black dog along with b12 were swimming aginst the tide... tracks are from the following gpr releases , expect to pay upwards of 20ukp for an original copy of these!! black dog productions - the stone dog - genpx2 black dog productions - vir2l remixes - genpx3 black dog productions - vanttool - genpx9 sm @ 4th world records *cutting edge mail order* http;//ourwrold.compuserve.com/homepages/4thworld/
