You should probably check your local listings. We're getting it at 4AM MDT (5AM in Chicago, but you may be on a different feed). The general idea seems to be that it'll run seven hours after the first airing of the Video Music Awards in your area: x:00 PM VMA's start X+3 VMA Postshow X+3.5 VMA Repeats X+6.5 VMA Postshow repeats X+7 AMP -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo@swcp.com; http://www.swcp.com/lazlo)

You know if this thing is going to be on at 2, 3, 4 am, I don't think we have a thing to worry about. I don't think I'm even going to be able to stay up that late to enjoy it, what with school and all. Set your VCR's and enjoy it while it lasts kids. Look what happened to Squirt TV, and that was on at 11:30! 120 Minutes was on for many years playing The Cure and New Order and Smiths and such and everything turned out fine there, remember (and I know you old school goths and such do!)? What it's really going to take is an IDM act on the scale of Nirvana to make people turn their heads and screw everything up and get the big money involved, and how long did it take for that to happen! Don't start digging the trenches yet, we have a while to go... //"'' //''resh Live and Direct from the G-Spot Orange County, California, USA

I'm still confused about the showtime though. I get it MTV on satelite up here in Canada, but they only list the names of regular programs. This thing doesn't appear to be listed in the guide that I have. So far all the messages seem to indicate that it is on at 3am Eastern time on MTV East. But they all say it's Thursday morning, which worries me because that was many hours ago, and means I missed it. A lot of these messages have been from after this time, and say to set your VCRs, which gives me the idea that they actually meant Friday morning(hopefully). If someone could please give me the exact date, time(including time zone) and whether it refers to MTV east or west, I'ld greatly appreciate it. Thanks. _john ---This Sig. Muchmusic, Canada's far superior MTV equivalent, used to run a weekly experimental music/video show called City Limits in the mid to late eighties. The show was hosted by a guy named Christopher Ward who had a flair for tracking down obscure and off-beat material. This show was where I was first exposed to such artists as the Orb, the Residents and Cabaret Voltaire, among others. I'm hoping AMP is just as well-done and well-researched.. As for the issue of whether this show will cause hordes of Smashing Pumpkins fans to rush out in search of the latest Skam release, I don't think this is going to be the case. IDM would never make it big in America, nor will drum&bass. The music industry here is far too closed-minded and the listening public is just not interested in anything that doesn't have lyrics [all dem songs sound all the same, dammit!] ;). Cid.
