Muchmusic, Canada's far superior MTV equivalent, used to run a weekly experimental music/video show called City Limits in the mid to late eighties. The show was hosted by a guy named Christopher Ward who had a flair for tracking down obscure and off-beat material. This show was where I was first exposed to such artists as the Orb, the Residents and Cabaret Voltaire, among others. I'm hoping AMP is just as well-done and well-researched.. As for the issue of whether this show will cause hordes of Smashing Pumpkins fans to rush out in search of the latest Skam release, I don't think this is going to be the case. IDM would never make it big in America, nor will drum&bass. The music industry here is far too closed-minded and the listening public is just not interested in anything that doesn't have lyrics [all dem songs sound all the same, dammit!] ;). Cid.
