Call me a culinary idiot, but I had a good laugh when I went out to eat at a new Italian restaurant here. One of the menu items was "Funghi Porcini". I was listening to CJ Bollands "Electronic Highway" again this morning. This has to be the most overlooked release of 1995. Were there any singles that went with this album? Nice design too, who did it?

Yes, there was the "Neural Paradox" single, which I passed on, because I already had one song on _In Order To Dance 5_ ("Astral Body") and the other on _Electronic Highway_. More to the point, the actual song "Neural Paradox" struck me as the sort of vague, non-engaging trance that R&S seems to be cranking out with such abandon right now. I own newer releases by The Source Experience, Ebizoo (a new Japanese signing to the label whom I'd expect will be on IOTD 6.3), and Speed Jack, and while all of them have their high points (and two of the three are brilliant releases in their own right), they all serve as excellent evidence that R&S is cultivating a sound that doesn't leave a whole lot of room for innovation. The "Neural Paradox" single is a good example of this bad phenomenon. pash> Nice design too, who did it? The designer is DasPasCals, who also designed In Order To Dance 5, The Source Experience's _Different Journeys_, and the R&S web site. If you're curious, check out <http://www.rsrecords.com/> and <http://www.arcadis.be/daspascals/> for more examples of his stuff. ozymandias . . . the self-reflecting image of a narcotized mind . . . ozymandias G desiderata ogd@organic.com Desperate, Deathless (415)278-5674 http://www.organic.com/Staff/ogd/ ::AOAIOXXYSZ::

Well, yes, my Italian spy tells me that porcini are one of the most expensive mushrooms, and most sought after by the refined for their taste. I must not be particularly refined, since I feel that all mushroom should be left on the ground in those circles made by forest fairies and/or UFOs. Speaking of UFOs, a rather ambient topic is those damn crop circles. I almost had a stroke laughing the other day, viewing serious academics and "scientists" discussing their cutting-edge research into the crop-circle "mystery". Then I became quite serious (as I sometimes do, especially when I think of money, or its peculiar absence), and considered a solution to my studio-funding dilemma. Since my pleas for charity have gone unheeded by the coldhearted Aphex-worshipping world, I must consider other means. So, I thought about getting funding for a grant to study graffiti. Clearly, graffiti is the work of space aliens. It's too complex and patterned to be the product of natural forces. It couldn't be a prank because no one could create such complex patterns overnight in a public place, without being noticed. Therefore, ipso facto, post hoc ergo propter hoc, ALIENS. As final evidence, consider that the government has published absolutely no studies on the alien-graffiti connection. Therefore, those studies must all be top top secret. Therefore, there must be a really important story which the government is hiding from us!!! Don't go trying to steal my grant idea now. I thought of it first. Though collaborators are welcome, as long as my name goes first on the Nobel Prize. Zenon M. Feszczak Ambientologist P.S. CJ told me he finished working on the album which should be released after the summer. He's leaving the old '4 to the floor'-format and is trying out new stuff ( i.e. "Sugar Daddy" featuring Nikki of Jade 4 U -fame singing(!) on this track, it should be the new 12" release). I heard it once at Tribal Gathering but due to technical problems it fell a little flat. I'll keep you informed when I see him next week.
