Over 15 years ago, one of the first things that impressed me about my wife is that she had more Eno and Kraftwerk records than I did. In 5 days it will have been exactly 15 years since we both attended one of the defining moments of our lives together: Kraftwerk at the Santa Monica (CA) Civic Auditorium. 4 years ago she was in a semi-successful Industrial band (read: Kk Records label deal, albums and singles out, toured Europe, toured the US West Coast) and then we saw The Aphex Twin play live outside Los Angeles. It was an epiphany to say the least. Shortly thereafter the Industrial band was history and she's spent the last 3-4 years honing her craft - making Techno music that ranges from Detroit smooth to Autechre hard-as-nails. She's added a bit of gear as well in the interim. She's got the DATs if you got the ears. Anytime you're ready Grant/g303 :-) Moral? None really, I suppose. Exceptions Live Among Us ... - Greg P.S. She doesn't read or post to any mailing lists; mainly because I can never get her out of that goddamn Performer program on the Mac. :-) P.P.S. We're thinking of coming over to Jolly Olde for the Big Chill weekend. Should we bring cassette dubs of the DATs? :-) P.P.P.S. Please excuse the semi-blatant self-promotion ... P.P.P.P.S. Just saw "Independence Day". Superior species comes to suck planet Earth dry of all resources, destroying it in the process. Oh wait, that's *US* ...

It's nice to think that people are willing to fly over for these things :) But one small problem - the event has been postponed (possibly permanently) from the original date which is rather fucking annoying as it is the one thing that I wanted to go to this year. I have just spoken to Chantal about it and it's *definitely* off for the original 2nd 3rd 4th of August dates due to complaints by boring inconsiderate local farts. Small possibilty it could be rescheduled at the end of the month but with a very different line up due to artists commitments. You best source of info is the organiser's and no i don't have their number. g. Good news is I will be in Switzerland for the Leysin Alps festival. Yey!

Yes, I know. I posted my thinking of going after I'd read the Global Headz Web page that talked about the postponement and the shit they've been going through about it. The salient point being that the current dates they postponed it to are ... Labor Day weekend! 3 days for Big Chill, 3 days off for me! What a lovely coincidence ... Meanwhile, I've been working at a consulting job at UCLA and I just came down there yesterday for the first full day of it ... and when I took a dinner break, I wandered around below campus a bit ... went into both Tower Westwood and Pennylane's ... obviously they both suck, but I walked out of them with both the June and July "The Wire" (including the free CD from the June issue) and the July and August "Muzik" (including the Mike & Rich interview pisstake; where's that July 25th Aphex "Boy/Girl" single then g3? (-: ) and the new August issue of "Future Music" with the mu-Ziq and Black Dog tracks, ... AND, to top it all off, hidden in Pennylane's HUMONGOUS Techno/Dance/Acid Jazz section (read: about 50 CDs total, tops) ... Andrea Parker's "Melodious Thunk" EP, on CD yet!!!!!! Waiting for me to rescue it from bargain bin oblivion!!! YESSSSSSS!!!!! *Dancing Snoopy dance* - Greg

dunno what you're talking about mate! And of course even if it were to exist, and it was called "Boy/Girl" then the journalist would probably invent a date like that just to add to the confusion. g. On Now: Woodenspoon.
