It's amazing the things I manage to find at discount stores like Media Play. Went there last night, and picked up Air Liquide's "Increased Difficulty of Concentration", and Single Cell Orchestra's "Dead Vent 7". I've got SCO on right now, and my immediate impression is how striking the resemblance is to The Conversation by Cabaret Voltaire. I love the underlying theme of the album as one continuous story, progressing through some very well constructed atmospheres. This release has more of an ambient feel to it, and it is captivating me at this very moment! =|-) I put on the Air Liquide last night around 1:30am, with a very dim light, and it set the _perfect_ mood for just sitting and meditating. I was also quite pleased to be able to pick up both of these releases for $12.99 each. Finally, I get some great music, at a decent price! Also got the M & R, Das Ist by Slaz, Justin Robertson JDJ, 808 State Bond single, newest Orb peelie (q about that below), and new Electronic album... I know, not really IDM content, but Bernard Sumner has always had a peculiar outlook on life, and it shows through on the CD insert. About the newest Orb Peel sessions... what in the *$!% is that second track doing there!?!?! AFAIK, it's got _nothing_ to do with the Orb. I'm assuming Peel threw that one in there to piss us all off... did a right good job at that on me. :) -- guyjr@cc.gatech.edu | I.D.M.- That stage in sleeping when your feet are a.k.a., Guy Elden Jr. | moving faster than your eyes.

Alex P. was also a contributor of the industrial conglomeration Pigface. Did anybody attend the Love Parade in Berlin? I could have gone a year ago when I lived in Hamburg but couldn't schedule it. } Alex P. was also a contributor of the industrial conglomeration Pigface. He wasn't a contributor to the first Pigface album _Gub_ was he? That was the worst excuse for an album ever. With all those big names you would have thought they could have secreted something more worthy. Maybe that was the goal - to release the worse piece of shit ever and see if all their die-hard fans would lap it up. Well I guess I fell for it, but I redeemed myself and sold the CD the next day. 8) _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ _/ _/ _/ Eric Frans :: franse@bigdog.engr.arizona.edu _/ _/ _/ _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/

umm, not to sound nosey, but could you point out to me which track he worked on? Some bloke I know had that cd, and i tried as hard as ever to find any listing of Patterson's name besides on the front cover. No luck. So I was wondering, what exactly did Alex do on this album? Or did Pigface get desparate for names to add to their collective, since their music is such shit now? Thanx. if anyone here doesn't like "Altered States", they should be shot. Ron Trent is the bomb!!!!!

There have been several Pigface albums each with a slightly different lineup, so it`s quite possible that Alex P. did do something somewhere. Tim On Mon, 15 Jul 1996, James B Gill wrote:

I reviewed this album that came into the radio station like 4-5 years ago by pigface. pigface apparently have something relitively new out as well. in fact, an industrial band named pigface played in st.louis, missouri (that dead in the middle of the US for those who dont know) at the beginning of this year. I looked at the albums and found no reference to alex patterson. I asked people I knew who went to see pigface about the band, and heard no reference to alex patterson, but a big yes to the fact that it was the one and only industrial pigface. maybe alex worked on a project with them, but hid himself under one of many aliases... As a bit of a pigface (and pigface fan) I can tell you that it's just one big studio love-in. I assume that Alex didn't make a sizeable contribution, but hung around, loaned equipment, and generally made a nuisance of himself, and influenced the attitude of the final product (all in a good way of course!) I mean, Jello Biafra was also on this disc, and all he did was simply recite the line "Mental illness is the road to freedom." As someone has already pointed out, this is indeed the Orb, with Dr Paterson on shouty vocals. I remember when this was first broadcast. I had my tape recording for the version of o.o.b.e when it suddenly burst into No Fun. I'm thinking this can't be the Orb can it? But Peel never segues into session tracks, he lets them stand alone. I'm glad I didn't turn that tape off, by the time it got all dubby and echoed towards the end I was convinced it was the Orb playing a litle joke. And so it turned to be. Hooray! Cheers Andrew C.

Joke, yes. Patterson on vocals, I don't think so. Sounds like the Sex Pistols to me, vocals courtesy of Mr. J. Rotten. -- Mark Turner mturner@netcom.com
