Well, I think the one of the better ways is NOT to use your real email address in your Newsreader preferences, why dont you use: shephrd@NOSPAMearthlink.net or shephrd@-NOSPAM-earthlink.net Robots will scoop up the text literally and get a nice bounce and people that need to write you should be able to figure out that "NOSPAM" isnt part of your email address.. If they cant figure that out then maybe you wouldnt wanna talk to them anyways, or you could state in your sig file instructions that those spoof characters must be omitted. ernie Ernesto Ikerd, (817) 763-4795 Company Graphics, Dept 17, MZ-4202 Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company Fort Worth, Texas --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I can't figure it out. I got more spam today because I posted to a newsgroup, and I noticed that the spammers use unconventional words and spelling in the "Subject" and "From" fields, so that I can't create a filter against it. Do these people think to themselves that "Well, if I can just get past their spam filters, I'm sure they'll want to read my spam." It seems more like an attempt to annoy people than sell them something. Has anybody come up with a really effective means of avoiding spam when posting to newsgroups? this is OT, but.... modify your email address. spam is sent by bots that just gather addrii dumbly, so they can't know if it's false. be sure to note what your correct email address is in your msg. e.g. : adam@sirius.com.com or adamDELETE@sirius.com or even moc.suiris@mada .af.
