Could somebody shed some light on a Richard H. Kirk project called 'Molemen'? Also does anyone know about an upcoming Meat Beat Manifesto record? I'm not sure whether that should be classified as IDM, but I am very fond of Jack Dangers' aural collaging skills. Thanks...Nate

I have also been wondering what holds the new MBM album. I«ve heard rumours about it for about a year now... Regarding the MBM is/isn«t IDM thing... Maybe they rely more on sampling than the usual IDM artists, but on the other hand, I wouldn«t call them exactly hip-hop, techno, dub or industrial either. I would say that Intelligent Dance Music describes them pretty good... Mute's mailing list mentioned that it would be out sometime this year, of course no specific date.

If you listen to the track on the last Trance Atlantic comp called Simulcra Part 1, I would have to say it falls into that IDM realm. Dangers said in an interview that the new album would be relying heavily on eletronics rather than sampling. I think he is taking a new direction with his music though that's always been the case with him. I'd have to say MBM is definitely one the unique ones. Anyway that's my 2 cents and of course IMHO, as always. Ross Volition Inc

Yeah I've always considered MBM as IDM but was reluctant to say so as they are one of a very few whom I would not classify as 'techno' (to be very vague) like most of the artists mentioned on this list. I've seen them numerous time and Jack never disappoints...he fucking rocks plain and simple. Every release retains that raw edge while raising the level of complexification. I read the posting from someone who has heard some of the new stuff (I deleted the message already)...I will be severely disappointed if the new it is in any way mediocre. Hey, nobody answered the first part of my question! Jack and RHK have to be in my top 5 UK'ers. Peace!

Here here I totally agree... in fact it's a well known fact that the drum-line from "Radio Babylon" went onto to be sampled into two new techno classics. No prizes for anybody guessing what two songs, but feel free to try. :) Regards, John /-------------------------------------------------------------------\ | JOHN BUS (aka. I just discovered this a couple of days ago! I nicked my parents« copy of Boney M Golden Hits (really...) and immediately heard something strangely familiar... And I must have heard «Rivers Of Babylon« (the Boney M version, even) a zillion times as a kid. teemu from: Teemu ---> tkorpipa@siba.fi --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 'I can't forget... but I don't remember what' -Leonard Cohen-
