Ummm...this is a regular can of worms and a half. Cakewalk is
close to useless for pattern based sequencing which is what you
need for techno and jungle. Cubase might fit the bill best --
it has a groovy 'arrange' window which lets you build a song in little
bits and pieces and then arrange them graphically into a song.
I use Opcode Vision, which has the most powerful set of tools for
doing weird sequencing tricks. Too bad it crashes all the time. A new
version should be out within the next few months that will be a real
world beat. If they can ever get it into (and out of) Beta testing.
Check out
http://www.winternet.com/~earache for a very techno oriented
sequencer. It's in the early stages of completion, but it has great promise.
