Ummm...this is a regular can of worms and a half. Cakewalk is close to useless for pattern based sequencing which is what you need for techno and jungle. Cubase might fit the bill best -- it has a groovy 'arrange' window which lets you build a song in little bits and pieces and then arrange them graphically into a song. I use Opcode Vision, which has the most powerful set of tools for doing weird sequencing tricks. Too bad it crashes all the time. A new version should be out within the next few months that will be a real world beat. If they can ever get it into (and out of) Beta testing. Check out http://www.winternet.com/~earache for a very techno oriented sequencer. It's in the early stages of completion, but it has great promise.

You need to check out the various music production groups: http://www.hyperreal.com/music/machines Sign onto the lists, listen and learn... And by the way a Yamaha consumer keyboard is going to frustrate the hell out of you, though I'm ready to hear some jungle made on one. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Home Page: http://I.m.too.dumb.to.hack.html/~kent Kent Williams kent@inav.net (319) 338 6053 (home) (319) 626 6700 x 219 (work) (319) 626 3489 (fax)
