No, IMO. TA-2 is much better. But it stays a compilation, I have never found a compilition cd which has only good tracks (who has?? names, names). I think some tracks on TA-1 need some more time (there are also tracks on it that don't get any time from me anymore as well). But then again: listen before buy! Greetings, Eric. P.S. I always like the booklets of Volume...anyone?

Flux Trax? Admittedly, I haven't been in the game too long, so I don't have those early classics, but if you don't either, I would recommend this without reservation. Tracklisting on request (just in case you don't believe) Rob.

TA2 is optional -- it has some tracks I might not otherwise buy that I like (the KHand) and one that I really really like (the Queen Mecca). At this point I've got all four TEX's and both TA's, and I like the little books, so it's a trainspotter thing. Stupidest track on it in my opinion is the Josh Wink track. 'Just a track' yeah right. I thought my tracks were slapdash sometimes, but Josh Wink should cut his hair if he thinks he can just fuck around aimlessly with his MC202 and release it to worldwide acclaim. He can do better. I frankly wish that the artists would consider giving them a really good track rather than some out take. I guess they feel like it will take away from their 'real' releases if they let TEX put out a gem... I did listen to Trance Atlantic 1 all the way through Monday at work and I think it has really held up. (319) 338 6053 (home) (319) 626 6700 x 219 (work) (319) 626 3489 (fax)

i think TEX 1 is about the closest you can get to a flawless techno compilation. it's kinda weird but i think every techno-head i know has this comp. is it a benchmark? although drum&bass selection 4 comes pretty close to a perfect jungle comp, and counterforce bored me at first (inner city life is one song i don't think i'll ever need to hear again) but after taping it for the car i have became more enamored of it. --P.S. I always like the booklets of Volume...anyone? on some of the issues the booklets are the best part of the comp. anyone want to buy the volume 1-10 set, perchance? on goldie's timeless - after three listens i think i was completely burned by this $36 impulse buy (well, i had been waiting three months for it and then after finally deciding to pass it up, a guy at alien waves it in my face 'your goldie finally came in!') but i'm going to give it another chance simply because i spent way too much on it. the jungle book comp burned me too, i got it home and realized i had better versions of 75% of the tracks on other comps or mixtapes. tpower's new one was definitely a good buy though. :) expect a 'out with the old, in with the new' cheapo blowout sale from me after the new year. my new year's resolution: from now on, all my techno buying is going to be STRICTLY mailorder. i'll keep browsing in the stores here because everyone needs that hands-on dialogue with their music purchases, but i'll leave the checkbook at home. a marginally idm-related post from, .joanna. I hated DnB4, and I've owned every UK issue of the series up til 3. 3 was HORRIBLE. 4 is the same as 3. I think one has some of the best tracks, and 2 has some really solid stuff. Renegade Selector 2 (not 2.2) has been one of the best jungle comps I've ever owned, and I used to own them all. Oh, if you can find them, Productions House's old "Best of Jungle" series is excellent. Counterforce was ok, slightly boring towards the end, I agree with you there. Anyway, if anyone's interested, I'm willing to part with all of the above mentioned if the trade is right. I never listen to them anymore.

again , not to blow my own horn endlessly (as i'm prone), but... i did do a HTML review of TA2 a couple of months ago with sound samples of most trax. it can be found at hyperreal, or link from: http://www.xnet.com/~jjdavis/music.htm. make your own call, but i liked both TA2 and TA1, TA1 a little more. peeeeeeeeece, Jeff Davis <pHlow> ____--~~~~~~vvvv~~~~ oooooo 812.831.7846 jjdavis@xnet.com____---- ( ( ( vvvv ~~~~~~ooooooooooooo ___----( ( \ \ \ \ \ vvv oooooooooooooooooooooooooo ____---- ( \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ http://www.xnet.com/~jjdavis/
