Why does Primal Scream do so differents kinds of music? Link with Sabres of Paradise (Andrew Weatherall)? Basically, they are doing the same music ever. They only had one album which where AW has joined the band (screamadelica)... and it was awsome. Marc. BTW: How's Sabresonic Vs. the Haunted Dance Hall ? I must say I was pretty desapointed by HDH...

Yeah, probably Primal Scream need someone like Andy Weatherall, Chemical Brothers or Portishead to make their music worth more than the usual Rolling Stones/MC5/Big Star/Funkadelic pastiches they have churned out... I heard they are going to make some more dance-oriented stuff on their next album, since "Give Out..." failed miserably to find them any new audiences. I guess Primal Scream are only as good as the people they are working with are... ;)

Funny, I seem to have liked most stuff Sabres (RIP) made, but me and Spoon must be the exceptions then, considering some comments on Sabres' albums I've read on this list? :) ERkki Tampere, pHinland trerra@uta.fi

I like it but did had a too big overexpectation after what he's done on screamadelica. Maybe Sabresonic is closer to that stil than Haunted Dance Hall. ===> Marc.

Well, i greatly prefer Haunted Dancehall though both albums have their moments. I think the lengthy clock factory puts sabresonic down in my ranking, it just seems to be too long and not really go anywhere. I think the place that the sabres (NB Past tense!) really excelled in was in the remixes. The James remix CD had the four part remix all linked to make one continuous track over 40 minutes. That sound pretty much defined the 'sabres sound' though they did have strange phases where their remixes around a particular time took ideas from a particular 'movement'. Can't wait to hear Andy and Dave (Harrow, he of Technova) new stuff, when they get to release it. later martin Hydrogen Dukebox Mo' Wax Org Records Sabres Of Paradise |------------------------------------------------------------------| |THE | The finest | http://www.warwick.ac.uk/~esvtk/ | | SPOON | discographies|------------------------------------| | WEB | on the Web(?)| e-mail : esvtk@csv.warwick.ac.uk | |------------------------------------------------------------------| Done Lying Down Gunshot Eskimos & Egypt Sleeper

Just a few cents worth. I must say that I thought clock factory was one of the strongest tracks from the Sabresonic set. I was also interested to see in an interview, some months back with Mr Weatherall in the NME, that he too thought that of the material on Sabresonic, clock factory was one of the better tracks. IMO though Haunted Dancehall was definately a better album. Regards, Paul.

My problem with H.D is that Mr W. put his emphasis on the sounds but never got the music. completely off-mark. and if it hit a mark I'n not aware off, do tell! IMHO clock factory is THE strongest track on Sabresonic, it hits a mark usualy reserved for industriality. it's a factory kinda thing ya know. regards / snow

Just scored SKYLAB's #1 and sure enough its the dope. Its music for films; drama, suspense, a variety of moods. Crystal clear production as well. Highly recomended. That said here's the question of the day: On the Skylab 12" for Exotica, there is a remix of a track called "Seashell" by a cat named DJ Takemura. If you've heard the track from the full length and DJ Takemura's remix, you know precisely what I am talking about. Anybody got any info on other projects by DJ Takemura? Definitely a man to watch... Thanx N Advanx, Gordon

Heard the new Primal Scream on Triple J (Australian radio) today (new single? or just something off the upandcoming album?). Sounds fucking excellent! Mind you, much like Pop Will Eat Itself from a few years ago (instrumental bits of them) but they do it better than U2's PWEI rip-offs. [Did anyone else notice how U2's "Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me" sounds like Pop Will Eat Itself circa "The Looks Or The Lifestyle"? (eg the songs "Mother" or... "Eat Me Drink Me Love Me Kill Me" (Yes! And it came out 3 years earlier...))] Anyway, while we're on the topic of PWEI does anyone know anything about the current state of Graham Crabb's side project GOlden Claw Musics? He put out an excellent album "All Blue Review" in 1994 (yes, it's IDM IMHO) and has since split from PWEI but I haven't heard anything since. Also, Bentley Rhythm Ace (on Skint records) is another Poppies side-project. They have an album coming out soon. Seeya!
