With Jon Drukman's review in mind, I found the new Mouse on Mars CD. Thank God that American is being so prompt getting outthe new Too Pure stuff here in the US of A. I haven't had time to listen to it more than once, but first impressions were good, and I really think I'd like a MoM T-Shirt in that tropical shade of orange the album is covered with. :-) Found _A Day on Our PLanet_ last night. Wow - I've listened to it twice already, and it's amazing stuff. Great trance. Oliver Lieb is my current fave, I think, at least for today, anyway. Believe the good word. Listened to (but didn't buy) a cd of "Paradise" remixes by Inner City from 1990. Some good remixers, including Juan Atkins, as well as Kevin Saunderson remixing his own stuff. Very housey, and kind of dated. With regards to the whole thread of techno moving to obsolete the last big thing in favor of the next big thing, I think we do it to ourselves more than anyone. Not that anything is really bad with house...I saw the film "Jeffrey" this past week, and Sterling (Patric Stewart/Capt. Picard), commenting on the waiter's earring: "Earring - nice. Last year" kind of hits the nail on the head. time to hit the (ar/ap) books, Dave .------------------------------------------dave.manning@dreamland.unomaha.edu | "There is no other reality dmanning@cwis.unomaha.edu | but our own...." dmanning@synergy.net .-------------------------------------------- dgmanning@aol.com

Juan also co-wrote and produced _And I Do_ from _Paradise_. Most interesting trainspotter fact though is (and I claim my IDM trainspotters anorak for this one) the fact that one of the co-writers of _Big Fun_ is one J.Pennington who could very possibly be James Pennington - The Suburban Knight to 313'ers. || [CiM] || s.walley@uea.ac.uk || http://www.sys.uea.ac.uk/~u9323899/

I have found John Drukman's observation of MoM rewarding the close listener to be very accurate. I have listened to "Ioara Tahiti" about four times now, and swirling behind the beats and pulses, amorphous melodies drift along in the backround, sometimes almost hiding it seems. The first track, "Stereomission" revolves around a woman speaking Japanese(I think) continuously, and the final track is almost totally blank except for extremely faint ocean noises, and what sounds like a German radio broadcast. The other eleven tracks in between keep on getting better after every listen. Definately a worthy purchase. Greg Sullivan
