hi all many thanx to all that replied to my "man with no name" query...expect personal replies just as soon as i kill my honours project!!! (work work work) ok, judging from the correspondances i received, its pretty obvious that i'm smittten by GOA TRANCE (??????) ...whatever it is it kix ass and i like lots!!! My question is where can i get more of this type of stuff (MWNN, Black sun, slinky wizard, etc). I'd like to stress that i'm no DJ so what i'm looking for is accessible stuff (not white lable 12" promos etc)...just yer average cd compilations. (which themselves are pretty expensive). we have a plethora of trance comp. discs availbale here but those that i've heard don't have this GOA sound to it so if anyone out there can point me in the right direction i'd REaLLLLYYY appreciate it! lastly, can someone give me a dicog. on TIP records which i've been told will feed my habit?? many thanx again hemsy __________________________________________________ ! As only 2 or 3 people replied to me regarding "goa", I guess I can give you more info. I'll send you another private post & give you the 411 on the scene...

I can forward to you what I got from MUZIK magazine, again, it'll be sent to you via private e-mail, unless someone on the list wants a copy as well... Derek Jordan Mandra Gora-'Wicked Warp'(From DRAGONFLY TRANCE:PROJECT 2) the epitome of "anti-gravitational alien goa necktie trance"

sounded like a call for opinion or something so here I go. Most tracks on all the big goa labels: Platipus,Blue room, dragonfly, tip are nothing to be amazed of. many layers, anemic bass drum, industro-ambientish fades and the dark&happy sample for the trippin listener ("I just pissed in my pants and no one can do anything about it"). I know, you can make anything sound boring by writing about it this way and don't get me wrong, Some tracks are built beautifuly and very delicately into what could have been pure extacy yet it REALY sounds the same! well, maybe coming from a more eastern culture makes me more resistant to those indian techno lines... One thing you can't argue about is that the vibe at the full moon parties here is one of the best. snow

That may be true for some listeners, but I was completely enthralled at the sounds of Dragonfly. I mean...Compared to the TRANCE series on Rumour Records, Dragonfly SAVED the early trance sound. A bold new step in an untravelled direction...GOA!

I feel that at least the scene is giving credit where credit is due. Artwork alone would sell the Goa Trance scene to the uniformed raver in '92, and the more conscientious "listeners" of '94. Having a Native American background myself, I didn't feel any harm done with the use of "tribal" as a form of music, or as "tribal" as it relates to Goa-trance now...

Ok, that was a year ago. Juno Reactor's 'Transmissions' is way before that but all of them are pushing the same buttons. just recieved a goa trance compilation from a french label called POF. a bit faster but... nothing new under the full moon... snow

Well, i'm willing to give it time to "grow up". The Perfecto/Fluoro label is a step in the right direction, though. You're right, though. A 303 and fast, winding BPM's can only go so far. I think the music will become more "underground" and darker eventually. Maybe not from Juno Reactor's standpoint, but upcoming material from Genetic, Mandra Gora, and Black Sun(Youth) will reflect that.

well, got today a new dragonfly LP by Hallucinogen. Will give you the verdict in a few days. snow btw: Are you familiar with any connections between Genesis P. Orridge and any san-francisco goa scene? just wondering if PTV took a the leap in that direction. snow

I'd love a review of TWISTED. I'm hoping to get the "initial quantity on flourescent vinyl" version, just for kicks... I haven't read into it that far, yet. It would be cool if he was. Tekno-Acid-Beat-Goa, has a ring to it...sorta. Have you seen the Goa homepage, yet? If not, e-mail back, i'll give you the WWW URL. Derek Jordan

The audiance was mostly the guys you would find on the real underground goa events here: 30-60 people in the woods or on some mountain with a generator and secrecy and the occasional bust. The point is that the vibe is the same and adding the semi-eastern jihad sample helps imagining you are in goa. I'm not into it anyway. snow
