What was the general opinion of last nights Future Sound of London mix on Pete Tong?(sorry, this is mainly going to be for the UK idm bods). I wasn't too sure about the first couple of tracks, very mid-eighties sounding, but it got better as they went along. They even managed to slip 'Snakehips' and 'Ameoba' from the 'Far out...' e.p. into the mix. For anyone who's in the slightest bit interested, the sample right at the beginning of the mix that went "This transmission coming up may well rekindle your will to live" is taken from the classic sci-fi movie 'Silent Running'. I only know this 'cause I knicked it myself to put in a tune ages ago! Steve Ash

I loved that brilliant sample that kept popping up every twenty minutes or so saying "this is the Future Sound of London on the essential mix" ;) Seriously though, different. 8) I seem to remember someone on this list having a go at them some time ago about constantly sounding the same. I also seem to remember someone else saying that this was because they were over exposing themselves and weren't allowing themselves to evolve enough before a new release/exposure was let loose. I think last night put paid to that. Gav.

Have to say that the tune at the beginning was a bit too early 80's for my liking but apart from that and the various interuptions from Pete Tong and even one for the news it was well worth staying up for. Glad I taped it as I'll be able to listen to it again and again. Had another listen this afternoon and heard loads of stuff I missed first time round. Lots of love Tim One of the least common things in the world today is: common sense.
